Census of Rivière au Crapaud....


Louis Bourg, ploughman, native of Port Royal, in l'Acadie, aged 65 years, he has been 22 months in the country. Married to Cecille Michel, native of l'Acadie, aged 58 years.

They have seven children, three sons and four daughters:-

Eustache, aged 30 years.
Louis, aged 22 years.
Charles, aged 15 years.
Marguerite, aged 25 years.
Elizabeth, aged 24 years.
Marie Magdelaine, aged 19 years.
Anne Joseph, aged 8 years.

In live stock, they have two oxen, four cows, one calf, four pigs, and ten fowls.

The land upon which they are settled is situated on the east bank of the said river. It was given to them verbally by Monsieur de Bonnaventure. They have made a clearing on it for the sowing of four bushels of wheat.


Jean Baptiste Bourg, ploughman, native of l'Acadie, aged 29 years, he has been 22 months in the country. Married to Françoise Douaron, native of l'Acadie.

They have one son:-

Jean Casimir, aged 7 months.

In live stock, they have two cows and two pigs.

The land upon which they are settled is situated as in the preceding cases. It was given to them verbally by Monsieur de Bonnaventure. They have made a clearing on it for the sowing of four bushels of wheat.


Census of Anse du Nord-Ouest....


François Nogues, ploughman, native of the parish of Piriac, bishopric of Nantes, aged 50 years, he has been in the country two years. Married to Magdelaine Douaron, native of l'Acadie, aged 47 years.

They have two sons and four daughters:-

François, aged 15 years.
François Joseph, aged 10 years.
Marguerite, aged 22 years.
Catherine Joseph, aged 19 years.
Anne Théotiste, aged 12 years.
Marie Magdelaine, aged 6 years.

Marie Trehant, their mother, aged 80 years lives with them.

In live stock, they have two oxen, three cows, two heifers, one calf, one wether, one ewe, two pigs, one sow, and one hen.

The land upon which they are settled was given to them verbally by Monsieur de Bonnaventure. On it they have made a clearing where they can sow five bushels of wheat.


Mattieu Brasseaux, ploughman, native of l'Acadie, aged 50 years, he has been in the country two years. Married to Anne Marie Pitre, native of l'Acadie, aged 45 years.

They have eleven children, five sons and six daughters:-

Pierre, aged 21 years.
François, aged 15 years.
Mathurin, aged 13 years.
François Xavier, aged 11 years.
Jean Baptiste, aged 6 years.
Anthiotiste, aged 24 months.
Marguerite Joseph, aged 19 years.
Brigitte, aged 17 years.
Elizabeth Gertrude, aged 7 years.
Marie Joseph, aged 4 years.
Pellagie, aged 2 months.

In live stock, they have two oxen, one heifer, two wethers, six ewes, two pigs, and one hen.

The land upon which they are settled was given to them verbally by Monsieur de Bonnaventure. On it, they have made a clearing where they have sown six bushels of wheat.


Jean Baptiste Godet, ploughman, always ill, and poor, native of l'Acadie, aged 50 years, he has been two years in the country. Married to Marie Joseph Darois, native of l'Acadie, aged 42 years.

They have six children, two sons and four daughters.

Joseph Ignasse, aged 9 years.
Paul Marie, aged 3 years.
Marguerite, aged 21 years.
Anne Joseph, aged 18 years.
Marie Blanche, aged 16 years.
Marie Magdelaine, aged 11 years.

In live stock they have one ox, two cows, one calf, one sow, four pigs, and one hen.

They hold their land as in the preceding case. They have made a clearing where they can sow two bushels of wheat.


Census of Anse au Sanglier....


François Tureaud, poor, nailer, not having the means of buying the requisites to work at his native trade, native of the parish of Saint Pierre du Doy, in Engou, aged 24 years, he has been two years in this country. Married to Catherine Douaron, native of l'Acadie, aged 35 years.

They have four children, three sons and one daughter:-

Annaclet, aged 9 years.
Jean Baptiste, aged 7 years.
François, aged 3 years.
Marie Joseph, aged 11 years.

In live stock they have one pig and twelve fowls or chickens.

They hold their land upon verbal permission of Monsieur de Bonnaventure. On it they have made a clearing for a large garden.


Michel Join, extremely poor, ploughman and formerly a soldier, native of the town of Saint Maslo in Brittany, aged 46, he has been in the country 22 months. Married to Marie Impérisse, native of Port Royal, Acadia, aged 46 years.

They have no issue of that marriage.

Marie Marthe André, widow, daughter by a previous marriage of the said Marie Impérisse, aged 20 years.

François Marie Lecchis, son of the said Marthe, aged 5 months, lives with them.

They have no live stock.

They hold their land upon verbal permission from Monsieur de Bonnaventure and on it they have made a large garden.
