Minutes of the first meeting of the Ladies Aid Society at Montague Bridge, PEI.:

Montague Bridge
April 10 1999

Pursuant to a notice given out in the church on Sabbath, thirteen ladies of the congregation met at Mrs. Sutherlands. Meeting was opened by Mrs. Spencer who gave a speech explaining what was the object of the meeting. Then the following officers were appointed: Mrs. G. A. Thompson Pres., Miss Tillie McLean, Secretary, Miss Ella Cameron, Treasurer.

Discussion then followed as to what should be the name of the society and it was decided to call it the Ladies Aid Society.

The next business coming before the meeting was the admission fees. Decided to charge 25 cents for membership and a monthly fee of 10 cents.

Mrs. Spencer and Miss Ella Cameron were appointed to visit Whim Road to see about starting a similar society in that place. Mrs. Thompson was appointed to visit Lower Montague. It was then decided to meet at Mrs. Sutherlands on next Monday.
