He died on 6 Jan 1862 in Charlottetown, Queens, Prince Edward Island, Canada. He was buried on 9 Jan 1862 in Elm Ave Cemetery, Charlottetown, Queens, Prince Edward Island, Canada.

At 24 years of age, Job "Gunner" Bevan sailed from Kingston upon Hull on the schooner Valiant about 22 March 1817, and arrived at Charlottetown, Prince Edward Island, Canada, on 25 June 1817. The Captain of the Valiant was John Izzard, who died 7 June 1818 on his next voyage to Prince Edward Island and is buried at Charlottetown. Gunner settled in an area of Lot 34 that came to be known as Little York, close to and northeast of Charlottetown. He lived the rest of his life in close proximity with other emigrants who also arrived on the Valiant. This group settlement of the passengers of the Valiant suggests that there was some kind of organization of the emigrants made before their departure, speculation confirmed by later published recollections of some of the ship's passengers. The Atlantic crossing of the Valiant was remembered some years after the event by one of the passengers, Rev. Matthew Smith, and published in the Charlottetown Guardian of 24 January 1898.

Gunner Bevan served many years in the 9th Battalion of the Royal Artillery as a Gunnery soldier. In fact, his Headstone at the Elm Street Cemetery (plot #66, location G20), since destroyed by vandals, was of an Artillery piece design. After his Artillery days, he was a Carpenter. His obituary says that he was a Beadle (an Usher at an English Church) and a collector at St. Paul's Church on PEI. The 1861 Canadian census lists him as a Pensioner as he was then 71 years old. Research in Yorkshire county, England, finds that the Bath Militia lists Job Bevan. There is also quite a bit of documentation for two brothers called James Bevan, father named Job Bevan, from North Bradley, Wiltshire, England. The oldest of the two brothers mentioned is actually Job James Bevan, using his middle name prior to his military service. Job was obviously proud of his military duty as he carried it through life. After serving in the Bath Militia, it is easy to see how other passengers on the Valiant and future acquaintances of Job's came to know him as Gunner from Bath.

Job married Rebecca PEPPERELL daughter of William PEPPERELL and Mary BROWNE about 1819 in Charlottetown, Queens, Prince Edward Island, Canada. Rebecca was born in 1798 in England. She died on 17 Dec 1868 in Charlottetown, Queens, Prince Edward Island, Canada.
