Samuel died Sep 26 1824, Note: Resided, Nans Villa, Charlottetown Royalty, PEI. Samuel was granted 100 acres in Pownal on June 12, 1774. He had 3 sons and 5 daughters. He arrived on the Island on June 12 1774 along with the Schurmans. Samuel Sr. became a member of the legislature shortly after his arrival. Elizabeth married her first cousin, John Moore, 1796-????. John: John married his first cousin Elizabeth Braddock. No record of him has been found following Eliz.'s death, and it is probable they died around the same date.

i Unknown Boy b. ___ 1839, Nans Villa, Charlottetown Royalty, PEI. Probably James Alexander George Alfred Moore, raised as the adopted son of Samuel Hyde. Samuel's son was a half generation younger than he, and it was rumoured that G.A. Moore's family had died, and that adoption was through the family (i.e. was related to Samuel) as this boy is. Samuel would have been about 19 years his senior.

Mary was the second daughter of Samuel and Eleanor (Sanderson) Braddock of "Nans Villa", Charlottetown. William: William was baptised by Rev. DesBrisay. He and his wife, Mary, are buried in the Meadowbank Cemetery. Inscription: In Memory/ --of--/William Hyde/died May 4th, 1871,/Aet 85/---/Also his wife/--Mary--/died July 23, 1870/,Aet 70./ --- / Them also who sleep/In Jesus will God/Bring with Him/J.Phillips/. Charles died May 11 1888, Nans Villa, Charlottetown Royalty, PEI., Interred: Mt. Stewart People's Cem., Note: Resided, Nans Villa/Mt. Stewart/Scotchfort, PEI. Charles farmed the homestead, "Nans Villa" before moving to Mt. Herbert. He later moved to Scotchfort where he purchased a saw and grist mill from John Goff. He employed a miller to operate the mill. An Island Refugee, Abegweit Branch, U.E.L., 1983. The farm in Scotchfort was called Braddock Hill farm, and is currently owned by J. David Clark (1999).

Roberta died ___ 1949, Interred: Charlottetown People's Cem., PEI., Note: Resided, St. Johns, Nfld. Roberta married her 3rd cousin, widower Fred Smallwood. Fred is the uncle of former Newfoundland Premier, Joey Smallwood. Roberta's full name from her will. Frederick: Frederick died about 1916, leaving an estate of about $200,000.00, a princely sum at the time. His death occurred only a couple of years following Bernice Norton's visit with his family in 1914.

ix James Alexander George Albert Moore b. ___ 1869, Note: Adopted. James was adopted by Samuel. He was known to Bernice Norton as "Uncle Moore". Although unconfirmed, it is probable that he was the child of Samuel's aunt, Eliz. Braddock, 1797 - 1839 (#9208), and John Moore (#9214). No record of John Moore has been found after Elizabeth's death date, and it is suspected that he, too died close to the date of his wife. He inherited Samuel's property in his will.

Clarenda died ___ 1952. Benjamin: From information from Pearl Hastings, [email protected]. This clears up confusion over Clarenda's marriage to Frank Gates, then Bernice Rodd's marriage, also to Frank Gates. Bernice's Frank was Benj. Frank Gates' son. Benjamin and his brother, Henry Sylvanus Gates were the first Gates owners of Mayflower Mills, in West Royalty, known subsequently as Gates Mills. It was purchased for them by their father John Henry Gates c.a. 1888 with 85 acres of farmland. It was previously owned by John Scott and Charles Leard.
