First Generation

1. George Hickox was born in Hampshire, England. He was christened on 2 Jun 1805 in Saint Mary's Church, Portsea, Hampshire, England. He died on 1 Dec 1887 in South Dumfries Township, Brant County, Ontario. He was buried in Saint George Cemetery, St. George, South Dumfries Township, Brant County, Ontario.

George worked as a Blacksmith.

George married Mary Ann Stead daughter of William Stead and Mary Rowntree on 11 Sep 1832 in Prince Edward Island. Mary was born in Yorkshire, England. She was christened on 24 Mar 1816 in Farlington, Yorkshire, England. She died on 9 Jan 1898 in St. George, Ontario. She was buried in Saint George Cemetery, St. George, South Dumfries Township, Brant County, Ontario.

Mary immigrated on 25 Jun 1817 to Covehead, Prince Edward Island.

They had the following children:

5 F iv. Mary Hickox was born about 1841 in Prince Edward Island.

Mary resided in 1871 in Brantford, Brant County, Ontario.

6 M v. George Hickox was born on 25 Mar 1842 in Prince Edward Island. He died on 11 Sep 1919 in St. George, Ontario. He was buried in Saint George Cemetery, St. George, South Dumfries Township, Brant County, Ontario.

George worked as a carpenter and cabinet maker and resided in St. George, Ontario.

George married Rebecca Buchner daughter of Robert Buchner and Mary on 25 Mar 1874 in St. George, Ontario. Rebecca was born about 1850 in Jerseyville, Ontario. She died before the 1911 census. She was buried in Saint George Cemetery, St. George, South Dumfries Township, Brant County, Ontario.

There is no indication they had any children.

7 M vi. John Hickox was born on 26 Apr 1845 in Ontario. He died on 30 Sep 1929 in South Dumfries Township, Brant County, Ontario. He was buried on 1 Oct 1929 in Saint George Cemetery, St. George, South Dumfries Township, Brant County, Ontario.

John worked as a Labourer. He resided St. George, Brant County, Ontario. There is no indication he married or had any children.

8 M vii. Robert J Hickox was born on 10 May 1849 in Ontario. He died on 20 Aug 1927 in South Dumfries Township, Brant County, Ontario. He was buried on 22 Aug 1927 in Saint George Cemetery, St. George, South Dumfries Township, Brant County, Ontario.

Robert resided in St. George, Brant County, Ontario and worked as a tinsmith.

Robert married Jennie Latham on 9 Jun 1879 in Lynden, Ontario. Jennie was born on 6 Jul 1860 in Ontario. She died in 1930 in South Dumfries Township, Brant County, Ontario. She was buried in Saint George Cemetery, St. George, South Dumfries Township, Brant County, Ontario.

+ 9 M viii. Henry Edward Hickox was born on 5 Jun 1853. He died on 17 Apr 1912.

+ 10 M ix. Alonzo Hickox was born on 27 Oct 1856. He died on 20 Dec 1926.

 

Second Generation

3. Rebecca Jane Hickox (George) was born about 1836 in Prince Edward Island. She died in 1899. She was buried in Saint George Cemetery, St. George, South Dumfries Township, Brant County, Ontario.

Rebecca married Charles Coultous. Charles was born on 16 Feb 1827 in England. He died in 1914. He was buried in Saint George Cemetery, St. George, South Dumfries Township, Brant County, Ontario.

They had the following children:

+ 11 M i. Frank Coultous was born on 12 Mar 1859. He died on 30 Oct 1933.

12 F ii. Medusa Coultous was born about 1873 in St. George, South Dumfries Township, Brant County, Ontario. No other information is known about her.

4. William Hickox (George) was born on 15 Jan 1839 in Prince Edward Island. He was christened on 10 May 1839 in Trinity Church, Charlottetown, Prince Edward Island. He died on 4 Mar 1911 in St. George, Ontario. He was buried in Saint George Cemetery, St. George, South Dumfries Township, Brant County, Ontario.

William worked as a cabinet maker.

William married Mary Fleming daughter of Mark Fleming and Hannah Maxwell. Mary was

born on 16 Jan 1852 in Burfon, Ontario.

They had the following children:

13 F i. Velma Hickox as born on 10 Feb 1882 in Ontario. No other information is known about her.

9. Henry Edward Hickox (George) was born on 5 Jun 1853 in St. George, South Dumfries Township, Brant County, Ontario. He died on 17 Apr 1912 in South Dumfries Township, Brant County, Ontario. He was buried in Saint George Cemetery, St. George, South Dumfries Township, Brant County, Ontario.

Henry worked variously as labourer, blacksmith and farmer in St. George, Brant County, Ontario.

Henry married Mary Ann Legg on 15 May 1878 in St. George, Ontario. Mary was born on 15 Jul 1860 in England. She died in 1943 in South Dumfries Township, Brant County, Ontario. She was buried in Saint George Cemetery, St. George, South Dumfries Township, Brant County, Ontario.

Mary emigrated in 1878 from England.

George married (1) Lily Mae Fowler daughter of Frederick William Fowler and Florence B Liddle on 26 Jan 1912 in Galt, Ontario. Lily was born about 1894 in Hespeler, Ontario. She died on 24 Oct 1940. She was buried in Saint George Cemetery, St. George, South Dumfries Township, Brant County, Ontario.

Lily was noted as a "mother" on her tombstone although I have no information on children.

George married (2) Clara Irene Graham on 20 Feb 1943 in Hamilton, Ontario. Clara was born about 1893. She died on 26 Jun 1959 in South Dumfries Township, Brant County, Ontario. She was buried in Saint George Cemetery, St. George, South Dumfries Township, Brant County, Ontario.

17 F iv. Margaret May Hickox was born in Jul 1894 in Harrisburg, Ontario.

Margaret married Charles Bartlett son of John Bartlett and Elizabeth Dymond on 21 Aug 1913 in Galt, Ontario. Charles was born about 1892 in St. Mary's, Ontario.

They resided on 21 Aug 1913 in Galt, Ontario. He worked as a plumber at this time.

18 M v. Frank L Hickox was born on 1 Jul 1896 in Ontario.

Frank married Goldy E Gmelin daughter of Louis Gmelin and Catherine Robb on 22 Jun 1916 in Galt, Ontario. Goldy was born about 1895 in Galt, Ontario.

10. Alonzo Hickox (George) was born on 27 Oct 1856 in South Dumfries Township, Brant County, Ontario. He died on 20 Dec 1926 in South Dumfries Township, Brant County, Ontario. He was buried on 22 Dec 1926 in Saint George Cemetery, St. George, South Dumfries Township, Brant County, Ontario.

11. Frank Coultous (Rebecca Jane Hickox, George) was born on 12 Mar 1859 in Saint George, South Dumfries Township, Brant County, Ontario. He died on 30 Oct 1933 in Saint George, South Dumfries Township, Brant County, Ontario. He was buried on 2 Nov 1933 in Saint George Cemetery, St. George, South Dumfries Township, Brant County, Ontario.

Frank worked as a harness maker.

Frank married Elizabeth Templeton "Lizzie" daughter of Nelson Templeton and Matilda Philips on 26 Sep 1892 in Wentworth, Ontario. Elizabeth was born on 7 Oct 1867 in Ontario. She died in 1951. She was buried in Saint George Cemetery, St. George, South Dumfries Township, Brant County, Ontario.

Frank and Elizabeth had the following children:

20 M i. Lavern Coultous was born on 29 Jan 1895 in Saint George, South Dumfries Township, Brant County, Ontario. He died in 1942. He was buried in Saint George Cemetery, St. George, South Dumfries Township, Brant County, Ontario.

14. Robert William Hickox (Henry Edward, George) was born on 16 Nov 1878 in Ontario.

Robert immigrated in 1921 to Ferndale, Washington, USA.

Robert married Nellie Jane Cooper "Ella" daughter of James Cooper and Lois A on 12 Oct 1898 in St. George, Ontario. Nellie was born on 13 Jun 1879 in Ontario.

John married Laura Bonham daughter of Benjamin Franklin Bonham and Elizabeth B Crozier on 8 Mar 1900 in Galt, Ontario. Laura was born on 12 Oct 1879 in St. George, Ontario. She died on 12 May 1959 in Elnora, Alberta. She was buried on 15 May 1959 in Delburne, Alberta.

John and Laura resided on 26 Jan 1901 in St. George, South Dumfries Township, Brant County, Ontario and John worked as a farmer.

Jean married Willard Baker son of James Henry Baker and Sarah Jane Lowry on 22 Dec 1925 in Stettler, Alberta. Willard died on 22 Dec 1992.

Fourth Generation
