John Frederick Holland of Charlotte Town Esq. maketh oath and saith that on or about the fifteenth day of March last Doctor MacAulay seemed greatly to reprobate and even doubt the truth of, and on asking this Deponent when and where it was, he viewed him a copy of the said Resolution and that he Dr. MacAulay would find the original in this Book near to the motion for appointing the Secret Committee-when the said Doctor McAulay replied in the following words as nearly as possible. "I apposed the appointment of a secret committee as I think it is wrong to place such sort of power in the hands of private individuals."
