January 1st 1913

Wed., Weather fine and mild. Went over to Frank Yeo�s in the morning and went to Mill Rix�es ice to a trot. There was no trot but I had a good skate. Levi came up last night on the train. He was here this evening. Also Jim Brennan, Everett B. and Will B. and Rob Matthews. Levi went down to Joe Rix�es and is going home in the morning.

Thursday Jan. 2nd., Weather fine, just beautiful. Went over to Frank Yeo�s and helped him saw a bit of wood. Rob Matthews was here in the evening.

Friday Jan. 3, Weather wet and raining all day. Was down to Elmsdale and to William McNeill�s. Rained very heavy in afternoon.

Sat. Jan. 4, Weather still warm and unsettled, raining some and turning colder in the evening. Was over to Frank�s and cut up our pork after dinner.

Sunday Jan. 5, Weather fine but blowing very hard. Mimie and I went to church. Mr. Miller preached. Mr. McHattie had a call from Hunter River.

Monday Jan. 6, Weather fine in the morning; snowing after dinner. Was up to Harry O�Brien�s in the morning. He promised to sell me our winter wood but refused when I went to see him for it. Came home and went to Eby�s.

Tuesday Jan. 7, Weather fine. Went up to John Henderson�s and got some wood from him in on the baron�s. Was over to Anse O�Brien�s to see how James is. He is very sick. Mimie and I were up to Rob Matthews�es in the evening.

Wed. Jan. 8, Weather very stormy; snowed all day. Was in the woods all day.

Thurs. Jan 9, Weather very blustery; drifting all day. Went over to see James O�Brien in the evening. He is no better.

Friday Jan. 10, Weather fine. Put the waggons away for the winter and went to Elmsdale in the evening. Roads very bad.

Sat. Jan. 11, Weather mild with a slight snow fall. Was over to see Jim O�Brien in the morning. He is no better yet. John Wells was here also Eby. Mimie and I drove to O�Leary after dinner. She intends to stay for a week.

Sunday Jan. 12, Raining all day; turning to snow in the evening. Snowing a little and freezing at night. I drove home from O�Leary in the rain. Got home at dark; very wet and cold. Roads very bad.

Monday Jany. 13, Weather cold and heavy. Went for a load of wood. Hauling very catchy. We need more snow.

Wed. Jan. 14, Weather fine. Went for a load of wood in the forenoon. Daddy and I went to Alberton after dinner.

Thursday Jan. 15, Weather dirty in the forenoon. Donald Campbell , Artie Matthews and wife were here. Raining; turning to snow and sleet. Fine in evening. Hauled a load after dinner.

Friday, Weather fine. Hauled 2 loads wood. Hauling is fine today. Snowing in the evening.

Sat. Jan. 18, Weather fine and warm. Snow most all gone. Was down to Wells�es and to Edale after dinner. Went to Elmsdale in the evening again. Mimie came home on the train.

Sunday Jan. 19, Snowing and drifting. Was home all day.

Monday Jan. 20, Weather fine. Mother and I went to Elmsdale in the morning. Hauled a load of wood in afternoon. Mimie and I drove up to Mary�s in the evening.

Tuesday Jany. 21, Dirty weather again. Raining all forenoon and up to 3 o�clock very heavy. Turning to a slight snow fall then freezing. Went over to see Jim O�Brien. He seems to be some better.

Wed. Jan. 22, Weather fine and some cold. Hauled 2 loads of wood. Roads are catchy. Gerty and Harry were in in the morning.

Thurs. Jan. 23, Weather fine. Went to Elmsdale and got the horse shod in the morning. Went down in afternoon to get light sleigh mended. Snowed at night and turned to rain.

Friday Jan. 24, Weather fine. Hauled 2 loads of wood. Went to Elmsdale in evening. Brought sleigh home. James O�Brien is not getting better yet.

Sat. Jan 25, Weather fine. Hauled 2 loads of wood. Mimie and I went down to Artie Matthews�es in the evening.

Sunday Jan. 26, Weather fine. Was home all day. Gerty and Henry were here in the evening. Mr. McHattie preached his farewell sermon today.

Mon. Jan. 27, Weather dirty again was over to Frank Yeo�s in the morning down to Eby�s in the evening. Rained most all day.

Tues. Jan 28th., Weather fine but some cold with Nor West wind. Mr. James Yeo paid us a visit this morning. Harry O�Brien beat them all in a race at Kildare ice today. I went over to see Jim O�Brien. He is no better that I can see. Mother and I drove down to Sandies. Roads very icy.

Wed. Jan. 29, Weather still cold. Went down to Sandies and Charlie McNeill and I sawed wood all day. Had a run-away going down, broke the harness and dash-board. The horse dragged me along the road my jack till I had to let go. Chip Currie stopped him for me.

Thurs. Jan. 30, Weather a bit rough. Snowing some. Frank Yeo was here. Him and I drove to Elmsdale in the afternoon. Hugh Williams is laid up with a sore eye.

Friday Jan. 31, Weather fine and warm wind blowing. Was down to Elmsdale in the afternoon.

(February 1913)

Sat. Feb. 1st., Weather fine but it rained last night again. Went over to see Jim O�Brien. He is getting a little better, I think.

Sun. Feb. 2, Weather colder with Nor West wind. Was home all day. Artie M. and Charlie Forsyth were here.

Monday Feb. 3, Weather fine. Was down to Eby�s, Henry�s, Arties and Elmsdale. Snowing in the evening.

Tues. Feb. 4, Weather fine. Went to the woods and cut wood. Snowed some in the evening but not enough to make a good road.

Wed. Feb. 5th., Weather fine and frosty. Was in the woods again today.

Thurs. Feb. 6, Weather fine and very cold, 10 below zero. Worked in the wood today. Anse O�Brien�s wife had a young daughter this morning.

Friday Feb. 7, Weather very cold, 15 below zero. Went to Elmsdale after noon. Barbers in Woodstock lost a pair of black foxes. They were stollen. Mrs. Mick Ellsworth took suddenly ill last night and died this evening.

Saturday Feb. 8, Weather milder. Was down to Sandies. Barbers found their foxes today back in Eby�s woods. Supposed that Tom Murray (right edge of page missing - name confirmed from information on Feb. 10) left them there as he was tracked from the ranch to home.

Sunday Feb. 9, Weather very cold. Was up to Mr. Ellsworth in the morning, home the rest of the day.

Mon. Feb. 10, Weather still very cold. Frank Yeo and I went over to see Jimmie O�Brien. He is getting better slowly. Was down to Elmsdale after dinner. Charlie Burke is on trial this evening for selling whiskey. They say the constables are after Tom Murray today.

Tuesday Feb. 11, Weather fine but cloudy. Went down to Sandies and put 3 cords of wood to the door. Cut 2 loads. Ed Cannon and Jacob Murray were arested today, Cannon for stealing Barbour�s Foxes and Jacob for handling stollen property. Tom Murray�s wife was taken also but was let go at O�Leary on bail. There is great excitement in the country about it.

Wed. Feb. 12, Weather cold, high Nor West wind. Was down to Eby�s and Wells�es.

Thurs. Feb. 13, Weather still very cold. Frank Yeo and I went to Alberton to take the snow out of Mrs. Ellsworth�s grave and loosen the clay. She was buried this afternoon. I went to the Catholic church for the first time. Called to Pauline�s on my way home. Gerty and Harry were in this evening.

Friday Feb. 14th., Weather fine and warmer. Was over to see James O�Brien. He is better. Mimie and I drove down to Sandies after dinner and spent the evening. Mrs. Jim Hardy went out of her mind and rained quite a disturbance among the natives. We hear that her sister, Mrs. Frizzle, is out of her mind also.

Sat. Feb. 15, Weather fine. Went to Elmsdale in afternoon and Mimie and I went up to Jim Brennan�s and stayed the evening.

Sun. Feb. 16, Weather is a bit rough today, snowing a little and drifting some. Went down to Artie�s in the forenoon. Mimie and I went to church after dinner. Mr. Miller preached. Donald Campbell and his cousin Charlie Campbell from Mt Royal were there and came up with us and spent the evening.

Mon. Feb. 17, Weather wild, snowed a little and drifted much all day.

Tues. Feb. 18, Weather still dirty, snowing and drifting all day. Walked down to Elmsdale. Mrs. Hardy is a little better.

Wed. Feb. 19, Weather some finer. Took a grist to the mill in the afternoon. Roads very bad. Ed Cannon is comitted to the June court.

Thurs. Feb. 20, Weather fine. Hauled wood, 3 trips. Donald Campbell and Georgie called here and they and Mimie and I drove through to Mary�s.

Friday Feb. 21, Weather fine. Rained some last night. Good hauling. Hauled 2 loads wood. Went to the mill and got my grist. Arthur Rennie is arrested on the fox trial.

Sat. Feb. 22, Weather fine. Hauled 2 loads wood. Mary and Holson drove out. She is goning to stay over Sunday. Mimie and I drove out to Gerty�s in the evening. Snowing at dark.

Sunday Feb. 23, Still snowing some. Was down to Eby�s and was over to Frank Yeo�s. Weather was showery all day but did not snow much. Mother�s birthday today.

Mon. Feb. 24, Weather fine but cold. Hauled 2 loads wood. Mother dad and Mary went down to Sandies. They are giving Mother a birthday party today.

Tues. Feb. 25, Weather fine and frosty. Mother and dad came home today. Mary went to the dock. Holson drove out in the evening but Mary was at Gerty�s. Hauled 2 loads wood.

Wed. Feb. 26, Weather fine. Hauled wood, 2 trips. Dad drove Mary home.

Thurs. Feb. 27, Weather fine. Hauled 3 loads wood and finished. Snowing little in the evening. Got my mud box on the bob sleighs.

Friday Feb. 28, Weather dark and cloudy. Began the mud today, Friday and hauled one load. Roads very heavy.

(March 1913)

Sat. March 1st., Weather fine. Snowed last night some. Hauled mud 2 trips. Arthur Rennie is clear and came home last night. They arrested Pady Fitzgerald�s son last night for being instrumental in hiding Tom Murray.

Sun. Mar. 2, Weather fine. Snowed and rained last night, nice and warm today. Charlie Yeo and Jessie Gibbs were here today also Harry Matthews. Artie Matthews is sick with the Grippe and also Jack Wells.

Mon. Mar. 3, Weather rough. Snowed last night and is drifting today. Went to Elmsdale and got the mare shod.

Tues. Mar. 4, Weather fine. Went for one load of mud to the shore. The Ferry ice is all afloat. No diggers working. Jack Murray is arrested for being mixed up in burning Clark�s barn. He is out on bail.

Wed. Mar. 5, Weather fine. Hauled 2 loads of mud. Roads good but ice is getting treacherous.

Thurs. Mar. 6, Weather fine. Hauled one load of mud from the shore. The ice is not safe by Ashley Point. Hauled out manure in the afternoon and went down to see Jack Wells. Mimie came as far as Eby�s. I called for her on my way home. Jack is getting better.

Fri. Mar. 7, Weather very rough, blowing and drifting all day. Began to snow last night about nine o�clock.

Sat. Mar. 8, Weather fine and cold. Went down to Sandies after dinner and cut some wood at the door. Dad is not very well today and yesterday.

Sun. Mar. 9, Weather fine. Gerty and Harry were in. Mimie and I drove out to the Dock church in the evening. Began to snow before we came home.

Mon. Mar 10, Weather fine. Dad and I put in a straw stack. Went to Elmsdale in evening.

Tues. Mar. 11, Weather fine. Went down to the Ferry and banked 7 loads mud. Took last load home.

Wed. Mar. 12, Weather fine. Hauled mud 2 loads.

Thurs. Mar. 13, Weather fine. Hauled mud 2 loads.

Fri. Mar. 14, Weather dark. Hauled mud 2 loads and got caught in the rain, got soaked. Roads are going fast.

Sat. Weather still soft. Went down to Sandies in afternoon.

Sun. Mar. 16, Weather still warm and raining. Snow is most all gone. There was a waggon on the road today.

Mon. Mar. 17, Weather fine, froze some last night. Richard Bell died yesterday. Was down to Eby�s.

Tues. Mar. 18, Weather fine with Nor West wind. Froze hard last night. Frank Yeo and I went down and banked mud.

Wed. Mar. 19, Weather fine and warm. Mrs. Jim Brennan was here today, also Artie Matthews. First time he was here since he got over the Grippe.

Thurs. Mar. 20, Weather nice and fine. Banked six loads of mud. Was after dark getting home.

Friday Mar. 21, Weather fine. Baze Rennie and I went fishing smelts and got none. Roads very muddy.

Sat. Mar. 22, Weather fine. Was home all day.

Sun. Mar. 23, Weather fine. Mimie and I went over to Frank�s.

Mon. Mar. 24, Weather dirty, raining again. Was down to Artie�s in the morning. He came up with me and stayed the afternoon. Went to Elmsdale in the evening.

Tues. Mar. 25, Weather fine in morning. Began to rain before noon and turned to snow at noon. Quite a snow storm. Was down to Sandies and over to Ed Arthur�s. From there got home at dark. Henry Williams and John Henderson sold their Galair colts yesterday for 180.00 each.

Wed. Mar. 26, Weather fine. Went down to Sandie�s. Ed Arthur and I cut wood in the woods. Stormed in the afternoon. Quite a fall of snow. I stayed at Sandies all night.

Thurs. Mar. 27, Weather still dirty, turned to rain and rained most all day. I came home after dinner. Mimie has been sick for 2 days.

Friday Mar. 28, Weather fine but blowing very hard and freezing some. Was down to Hy Williams. Getting a waggon swing made after dinner. Mimie is not getting any better.

Sat. Mar. 29, Weather fine. Went down and worked at Sandie�s again. Came home in the evening. Mimie is no better yet.

Sun. Mar. 30, Weather fine. There is preaching in our church today. Mr. Miller is preaching. Mimie is sick yet. Gerty and Henry were here, also Lottie Brennan & Fannie Matthews.

Mon. Mar. 31, Weather fine but very blowy. Rained very hard last night. Went to Elmsdale in evening.

Tues Apr. 1st., Weather fine. Was down to Eby�s in afternoon. Mimie is better.

Wed. Apr. 2, Weather fine but cold. Went down to Sandies and worked at the wood, came home in evening.

Thurs. Apr. 3, Weather very fine. Went up to Rob Matthews for the mill.

Fri. Apr. 4, Weather fine. Went to Elmsdale for a bbl flour then up to Rob�s and hauled the mill to Elmsdale in the evening.

Sat. Apr. 5, Weather some rough. We threshed and pearled the clover. Finished at 6:45.

Sun. Apr. 6, Still snowing some. Went to church. Mr. Miller preached. Lottie and Olive Brennan and Fannie Matthews were here. Snowing thick and blowing in the evening.

Mon. Apr. 7, Still snowing. Went for the f???? today and cleaned clover seed.

Tues. Apr. 8, Weather fine. Cleaned clover seed and nearly finished. We will have about 130 lbs clean seed.

Wed. Apr. 9, Weather fine. Was down to Eby�s. Finished cleaning clover seed.

Thurs. Apr. 10, Weather fine. Went to Alberton in the forenoon. Roads very muddy coming home.

Frid. Apr. 11, Weather fine. Mimie and I went to Elmsdale in morning. Mother and dad went in to Colin Rix�es after dinner. Harry O�Brien was here. There is a dance at his place tonight.

Sat. 12, Weather wet. Rained all forenoon. Went to Hy Williams and Eby�s after dinner. Charlie Forsyth came up here in the evening.

Sun. Apr. 13, Weather fine. Was home all day. Went back to the fields today. The clover looks well so far. Looks like rain today.

Mon. Apr.14, Weather fine. Was home all day. Down to Eby�s in evening.

Tues. Apr. 15, Weather fine. Holson was here. Him and I went to Alberton. Roads very bad.

Wed. Apr. 16, Weather fine. Mother and I went down to Sandie�s. I sawed wood all day.

Thur. Apr. 17, Weather a bit dirty, snowed some. Was down to Elmsdale.

Fri. Apr. 18, Weather fine. Mimie and I were down to Sandie�s. Finished his wood today.

Sat. Apr. 19, Rained today. Was out to Alberton for medicine for mother. She has La Grippe bad. Mary came out on the train. Ralph McNeill came up today too.

Sun., Weather fine but cold. Mother is better today.

Mon. Apr. 21, Weather fine. Mary and Ralph both went home on the afternoon train. I took Maud home.

Tues. Apr. 22, Weather fine. We killed our pig today. Was down to Elmsdale in the evening.

Wed. Apr. 23, Weather fine. Mother and I went to Alberton. Roads are drying. We called to Pauline�s and Gerty�s.

Thurs. Apr. 24, Weather very fine. Mimie and I drove up to Harry O�Brien�s and I went to Henry Williams. They want my security on the job of driving the mail.

Friday Apr. 25, Weather very fine. Went in to Piusville and mailed my tender on the mail job. Hauled a load of mud after dinner.

Sat. Apr. 26, Weather fine and hot. Mimie and I drove down to O�Leary after dinner. Roads very bad in places.

Sun. Apr. 27, Weather still very fine. Mimie and I came home today, got home at dark.

Mon. Apr. 28, Weather fine. We had a shower in the forenoon. Went down to Sandy�s after dinner.

Tues. Apr. 29, Weather dark, looks like a storm.

Wed. Apr. 30, Snowing. Was down to Elmsdale.

Thurs. May 1, Weather cold, some snow on the ground yet.

Frid. May 2, Weather fine. Dug some in the garden.

Sat. May 3, Weather fine and cool. Went to Elmsdale in morning. Spread a pile of mud afterwards. Jim Arthur was here.

Sun. May 4, Weather fine and cool. Mimie and I went for a walk through the fields. Gerty and Henry were in today.

Mon. May 5, Weather very fine. Went to Alberton after dinner. Mull cow had a calf last night, took sick this evening. We got Artie up to see her.

Tues. May 6, Weather fine. Began to harrow today.

Wed. May 7, Weather fine in morning. Worked on the road machine till 3 o�clock. Rained the rest of the day. Was down to Artie�s.

Thurs. May 8, Weather fine but cold. Was down to Elmsdale in the forenoon, ploughed after dinner.

Fri. May 9, Weather fine in morning. Finished work on the road at noon. Rained in afternoon.

Sat. May 10, Weather fine but still quite cold. Ploughed and harrowed all day. Gerty and Henry were here in the evening.

Sun. May 11, Weather dirty, showers of snow and rain all day. Went up to Holson�s in forenoon and spent the day.

Mon. May 12, Weather very cold. Harrowed all day and worked in garden.

Tues. May 13, Weather warmer. Harrowed again today.

Wed. May 14, Weather warmer. Harrowed till 3 o�clock then it rained too hard to work longer. Went to Elmsdale in evening.

Thurs. May 15, Weather very cold, heavy frost last night, ice on the water tub this morning. Jen came up on the train yesterday. Mother and I went to Elmsdale this morning she (Jen) came up with us from Joe Rix�es. Harrowed after dinner.

Friday May 16, Weather fine but cold. I harrowed till supper time. Went to Elmsdale in evening.

Sat. May 17, Weather fine. Harrowed all day.

Sun. May 18, Weather fine. Gerty and Henry were in today.

Mon. May 19, Weather fine. Rained last night. Sowed oats all day.

Tues. May 20, Weather fine. Rained last night, very cold yet. Harrowed all day. Black mull cow died today.

Wed. May 21, Weather fine. Drove mother down to Sandies today, harrowed in afternoon. Henry drove Anna in this evening. His young foxes are doing well, 2 are black and two he thinks are patched.

Thurs. May 22, Weather fine in morning. Harrowed till supper time then it began to rain. Rained all evening.

Fri. May 23, Weather still wet, rained lightly most all day. Was down to Eby�s and to Elmsdale in forenoon. Dad dug some trees to plant today. I went down to Sandies for mother and took the trees home with me.

Sat. May 24, Weather still dark and misting rain. Hauled out manure all day. Mary and Holson drove out. Jessie Gibbs came up. Went to Elmsdale in the evening.

Sun. May 25, Weather still dark. Mother, Jessie and I went to church. Mr. MacLeod preached. Mrs. John Bell died this morning. Mother, Mary and I drove out to Gerty�s and spent the afternoon. Henry and I went over to Davie and Jim Hodgson�s. Holson came out for Mary. His sister came with him.

Monday May 26, Weather fine. Hauled out manure and rolled 2 fields.

Tues. May 27, Weather fine and cool. Harrowed in morning, sowed oats after dinner.

Wed. May 28, Weather cloudy. Finished sowing oats and sowed the wheat. Heavy mist all evening.

Thurs. May 29, Fine in morning, raining in afternoon. Hauled out manure.

Fri. May 30, Weather still very unsettled. Hauled out manure. Rained some today.

Sat. May 31, Weather fine. Hauled out manure.

(June 1913)

Sun. June 1, Weather fine. Was down to Eby�s. Took mother down to Sandies in the evening.

Mon. June 2, Raining again. Finished the manure today.

Tues. June 3, Weather fine. Cut seed in fornoon and harrowed the oats and wheat with the light harrow in afternoon.

Wed. June 4, Weather fine. Planted potatoes after dinner. Ross Matthews planted for me.

Thurs. June 5, Weather fine. Finished planting today. Mimie is not well.

Fri. June 6, Weather fine. Went for the doctor for Mimie. Rained in the evening.

Sat. June 7, Weather fine till evening, heavy showers just before sunset.

Sun June 8, Weather fine. Mary and Holson, Gerty and Henry were here. Mimie got up today.

Mon. June 9, Weather fine. Went down to Sandy�s for a bit of hay. Hauled out manure when I came home. John Henderson was here in evening. Len Caughlan is remanded to the Supreme court in the case of the theft of Bennetts foxes.

Tues. June 10, Weather fine. Ploughed at John Henderson�s today. Weather fine for the rest of the week. Finished hauing out manure and planted a few more rows of potatoes and rolled the grain. Harrowed the potatos. Jack Murray was tried for burning Jim Harne�s barn. Case was put off till the fall. Len Caughlan and Steepleton are still detained on the Bennett fox case. Also Bob Caughlan has been writed by James Birch for handling same foxes. Charlie Burke has been let go free.

Sun. June 15, Weather fine. Martha called here and came to church with us. Mr. Miller preached here today.

Mon. 16, Weather fine. Sowed the turnips today and worked some fixing up the field road.

Tues. June 17, Weather fine. Jessie Gibbs came up today.

Wed. June 18, Weather fine. Mother and dad went down to Sandies. Worked on the field road some.

Thurs. June 19, Weather fine. Jessie went home today. I got the mare shod and dug some post holes.

Friday June 20, Weather fine. Done some fencing.

Sat. June 21, Weather fine. Done some fencing. Was down to Henry Williams for wire strecher. Gerty and Henry were in in evening. Went to Elmsdale with them. The Salvation Army folks have got a tent put up at Elmsdale and are having a meeting there. Edgar Cannon was sentenced to five years in penitentary for stealing or planning to steal the Bennett foxes. Jack Murray�s trial comes off again in the fall.

Sun. June 22, Weather fine. Mary drove out today. I went out to Jim Brennan�s and Rob Matthews�es in the evening. The constables have taken a fox from Sandie MacDonald�s in Lot 10 claiming it to be the Bennett foxes.

Mon. June 23, Weather fine. Was down to Elmsdale in morning. Streched wire after dinner.

Tues. June 24, Raining most all day. Was down to Eby�s in the morning. Dad and I went over to see Frank Yeo�s foal after dinner. Went to Elmsdale in the evening. Harry Platts drove me home. We began to send our milk today.

Wed. June 25, Weather fine. Dad and I fenced today on the back line. Jack Murray set out a fire on Monday and burnt our fence and a lot of Anse�s. Brander Matthews was here. He and I went for a drive to Piusville.

Thurs. June 26, Weather fine. Measured the line fence today between Anse and us and divided it. The famous Gordon foxes supposed to have been stolen by Rob Caughlan 2 years ago were found in Mr. Inman�s ranch reported to have been taken there by Ben Warren.

Sat. June 28, Weather fine but dark and cloudy. Streched a wire fence. Went to Elmsdale in the evening.

Sun. June 29, Weather fine. Went to church at Alberton. Took Artie Matthews with me. Gerty and Henry were here this after, also John Henderson and wife.

Tues. July 1, Raining again. The rain stopped in afternoon. Was up to Charlie Dunn�s this morning. Transplanted some garden truck in afternoon. Artie was up this evening.

Wed. July 2nd, Weather dark but fine picking strawberries in the morning. Mother and I went to Elmsdale after dinner. This is Mimie O 21st birthday. (Do not know what "O" refers to") (Therefore born July 2, 1892)

Thurs. July 3, Weather fine. Went for the doctor for Mimie. Took him out to Alberton and back in the evening. He stayed all night. Gerty and Mrs. F. Yeo were here all night too.

Friday July 4, Weather fine. Will Brennan took the Dr. from here in the morning. His wife had a child but it was dead. The Dr. went to Alma (town north of Elmsdale) afterwards. Mimie is no better. I went to E.dale in the morning. Mailed a letter to Jessie. She came up on the afternoon train. Gerty went home in the morning. Her and Harry came in for a little while in the evening. We had some thunder and rain in the evening.

Sat. July 5, Weather fine. Went for the Dr. had to come back in a hurry. We had a young daughter come to stay with us. She was born a little before noon. (Birth of their daughter Ruth) Mimie is well. Susie was here. Went to Alberton in the evening. Gerty came with me.

Sun. July 6, Rained all day. Was down to Artie�s in the evening. (Jan) Matthews was here today.

Mon. July 7, Weather dark and wet in forenoon, fine after dinner. Uncle Will came here today. He came up from home on Sat. last. Gerty and Henry were here in the evening.

On Sun. I went up to Mary�s. We dug potatoes all week between showers on Friday we put in the wheat. Some of it was growing bad. There is a great lot of grain out through the country.
