The Descendants of Edward Monaghan (Manning) and Margaret Gunn
The Monaghan's of Lot 44 emigrated from the County Monaghan, Ireland before 1841 and settled on what is now New Zealand, Prince Edward Island. The exact reason why the Monaghan name was changed to Manning is not known. But it is believed that Irish people were not well liked on PEI. As a result, the family was forced to change their name in order to hide their obvious Irish background.
1. Edward Monaghan, born cir. 1800. He married Margaret Gunn, born cir. 1802, died 15 Apr 1892, buried: in St. Alexis Cemetery, Rollo Bay, Prince Edward Island. Edward died March 4, 1877, buried: in St. Alexis Catholic Cemetery, Rollo Bay, Prince Edward Island.

Patrick died August 1868.
