First Generation

1. David James Noonan born about 1791 in Parish of St. Bridget�s, County Cork, Ireland. He died 28 Mar 1866 in Summerside, PEI; 1866 in St. Paul's Cemetery, Summerside, PEI.

The Examiner, 7 May 1866 Page 3.""At Summerside, on Wednesday, 28th March last, Mr. David Noonan, in the 75th year of his age, a native of the Parish of St. Bridgets, County Cork, Ireland. He was a kind husband, a charitable and good neighbour, his home was a home for all persons who called to it, where he lived over 45 years on Lot 25, before selling out, where they found a hospitable, well-furnished, he made no difference as to country or creed. He was attended by the Very Reverend James McDonald, V.G. and with the most respectable inhabitants of Summerside and vicinity to his last resting place. He leaves a sorrowing widow to deplore the loss of a kind husband. May his soul rest in peace. Amen."

David immigrated about 1821. He resided at South Market near Duke in Summerside, PEI. He was a Shoemaker. He was counted in a census in 1841 in Lot 25 PEI, Page 7. He was counted in a census in 1861 in Lot 25 PEI.

1841 PEI Census."Lot 25; Farmer; 5 Roman Catholics; origin PEI 1 Ireland 3 British Colonies 1; number of passaged paid by self 3; total number in family 5; 1 female 1 male under 16; 1 female 1 male 16-45; 1 male 45-60."

1861 Prince Edward Island Census."1861 Census; Lot 25; Farmer; 2 Roman Catholic; Proprietor John M. Baker; origin - 2 Ireland; 2 married; total number in family 2; years of lease expired 3 of 5; 1 female 45-60; 1 male 60+."

David married Mary S. Costello 22 Feb 1821 in PEI.

"married by me, Major Hooper, obliged to go from home - according to the book of Common Prayer" witnesses William Craig and and Thomas Condon - marriage license and registration to Mary Costelo (sic) ref: PEI Arth Aun 2810 License made out to James, but signed David

Mary was born about 1800 in Ireland. She died 28 Jun 1877 in Summerside,PEI.

Summerside Journal, 5 July 1877."Noonan, Mrs. David - At Summerside, on 28th vlt, age 7_ years."
