Descendants of David Walker & Margaret Hetherington

1. David1 Walker was born on 25 June 1762 in Dumfries, Dumfriesshire, Scotland. He married Margaret Hetherington on 1 July 1783 in Annan, Dumfriesshire, Scotland. He married Ann Bramble, daughter of ? Bremble and Sarah Bremble, on 13 April 1825. He died on 15 April 1844 in (probably), New Annan, Prince County, Prince Edward Island, at age 81.

He immigrated circa 1819 to New Annan, Prince County, Prince Edward Island. "Wa(u)lking the Cloth", extracted from a Scottish list: 'Walker' means 'Walker of the Cloth'. This was a transitional process from liquid to cloth, and workers walked it in their bare feet to stretch it. In the Highlands 'waulking' the tweed is a process of shrinking the cloth. A group (usually women) would sit around a wooden table and the long length of damp tweed was held by them all. It was passed through their hands, and bumped down on the table as it was passed along. There were traditional songs sung to maintain the rhythm of the waulking.

5. John2 Walker (David1) was born on 25 September 1795 in Wintersheugh Farm, Cummertrees Parish, Dumfriesshire, Scotland. He married Jane Davidson Weir, daughter of John Weir and Jean Rae, on 10 April 1819 in Annan, Dumfriesshire, Scotland. He died on 28 November 1882 in New Annan, Prince County, Prince Edward Island, Canada, at age 87. He was buried in North Bedeque Cemetery, Prince County, Prince Edward Island, Canada.

He emigrated on 16 June 1825 from Plymouth, England. Religion: he was a member of the Presbyterian Church of the Lower Provinces. He was a farmer. He held 75 acres in fee simple. and leased 181 acres, 999 year lease with 30 years already expired on the lease. Land was leased at the rate of 1 pound per acre per year. The landowner (probably an Englishman) was James Yeo. This is the same farm and house lived in today (2007) by Peter and Barb Walker.

John had 150 acres of arable land. In the year up to the 1861 census they grew 50 bushels of wheat, 30 bushels of barley, 1000 bushels of oats, 35 bushels of buckwheat, 700 bushels of potatoes, 200 bushels of turnips and 10 tons of hay. They manufactured 50 yards of fulled cloth, 60 yards of non-fulled cloth and 150 lbs. of butter. They owned 6 horses, 19 cattle, 26 sheep and 6 hogs in 1861. He appeared on the census of 1861 in Lot 19, Prince Edward Island, Canada. He left a will on 15 December 1874 in Richmond Hill, New Annan, Prince County, Prince Edward Island, Canada. He leased land on 3 November 1875. He was a farmer in the 1881 census in 1881.

He married Mary Hogg. He died on 27 January 1866 in Lot 19, New Annan, Prince County, Prince Edward Island, at age 61. He was buried in North Bedeque Cemetery, North Bedeque, Prince County, Prince Edward Island.

He was a wheelwright by trade, and is credited with building the first cart to be seen in these parts. It was wholly built of wood and was drawn by a team of oxen[Freetown, Past & Present, pg. 449].

He married Elizabeth Cairns, daughter of Thomas Cairns and Agnes Wilson, on 6 March 1834 in Prince County, Prince Edward Island.

Robert Walker died on 4 December 1882 in Prince County, Prince Edward Island, at age 71. . He was buried in the North Bedeque Cemetery, North Bedeque, Prince County, Prince Edward Island, Canada.

He was granted a license to operate a tavern in New Annan. Robert is in the "List of Persons authorized by License to Retail Spirituous and other Liquors" in 1847 in New Annan, Prince County, Prince Edward Island. He was granted a country tavern license in Lot 19 (Licenses Book #6, p. 30-31) on 13 October 1855 in New Annan, Prince County, Prince Edward Island. He was granted a country tavern license in Lot 19 (Licenses Book #6, p. 92-93) on 24 November 1858 in New Annan, Prince County, Prince Edward Island. He was granted a country tavern license in Lot 19 (Licenses Book #6, p. 148-149) on 24 November 1860 in New Annan, Prince County, Prince Edward Island. He appeared on the census of 1861 in Lot 19, New Annan, Prince County, Prince Edward Island. Religion: he was a member of the Presbyterian Church of the Lower Provinces, as listed in the 1861 Census. He was a farmer on Lot 19. He leased 100 acres, 999 year lease with 30 years already expired on the lease. Land was leased at the rate of 1 pound per acre per year. The landowner (probably an Englishman) was Andrew T. Todd. Of the 100 acres, 60 were arable and of 2nd quality. In the year up to the 1861 census they grew 50 bushels of wheat, 50 bushels of barley, 400 bushels of oats, 50 bushels of buckwheat, 600 bushels of potatoes, 50 bushels of turnips and 6 tons of hay. They weaved 20 yards of fulled cloth, 40 yards of non-fulled cloth and made 100 lbs. of butter. They owned 3 horses, 6 cattle, 14 sheep and 10 hogs in 1871 in Prince Edward Island, Canada. He appeared on the census of 1881. He was listed as a farmer in the 1881 census in 1881.

He was commonly known as Tom. He emigrated in 1872 from Prince Edward Island, Canada. He lived in 1900 in 607 West 2nd Street, Leadville, Lake County, Colorado. He was a miner, according to the 1900 census.

Merle Walker states that he remembers his father (Robert Walton) telling about Thomas C. having worked as a sheriff, or some sort of police officer, in Leadville, and that he was shot through the leg while on duty, and had to have that leg amputated. Merle had no way of knowing if the story was true in 1900.

i. Elizabeth Lee4 was born circa 1881.

She also is known commonly by the nickname of Bessie Walker.

ii. Robert Walton was born on 22 September 1883 in Nathrop, Chaffee County, Colorado. He married Margaret McPike. He married Mabel Stacy Gilbreath on 4 February 1913 in Mesa, Mesa County, Colorado. He died on 30 May 1932 in Antlers, Garfield County, Colorado, at age 48. He was buried in Rosehill Cemetery, Sec. N 1/2S 1/2, Lot 22, Block 12, Rifle, Chaffee County, Colorado.

He lived in 1900 in 607 West 2nd Street, Leadville, Lake County, Colorado.

iii. Virginia Belle was born on 22 October 1885 in Colorado. She married Frank Heely, son of Asa Heely and Elnora Campbell. She died on 26 September 1963 in San Luis Obispo County, California, at age 77.

She lived in 1900 in 607 West 2nd Street, Leadville, Lake County, Colorado.

iv. Mary Ann was born in January 1888 in Colorado. She married James H. Larsh, son of J. Larsh and Alice Edwards, on 17 October 1908 in Leadville, Lake County, Colorado.

She was also known as Mamie A. Walker. She lived in 1900 in 607 West 2nd Street, Leadville, Lake County, Colorado.

v. Thomas C. was born in 1892. He died in August 1899. He was buried in Leadville, Lake County, Colorado.

vi. Gavin Leslie was born on 18 November 1894 in Leadville, Lake County, Colorado. He married Frances Ruth Smith. He died on 13 June 1978 in Portland, Oregon, at age 83.

He lived in 1900 in 607 West 2nd Street, Leadville, Lake County, Colorado.

vii. Josie L. was born in November 1897. She died in May 1898. She was buried in May 1898 in Leadville, Lake County, Colorado.

44. George Price3 Walker (Robert2, David1) was born on 31 March 1857 in Prince Edward Island, Canada. He was baptized on 5 July 1857 in North Bedeque United Church, North Bedeque, Prince County, Prince Edward Island. He married Mary Adelaide Clark, daughter of Ewen Edward Clark and Margery Robins, on 30 August 1882. He married Mary A. Robinson. He married Isabella Scott Walker, daughter of John Walker and Ann Bell, on 28 May 1929 in 172-4th Ave. West, Vancouver, British Columbia. He died on 24 December 1938 in 172 W. 4th Ave. (at home), Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada, at age 81. He was buried on 27 December 1938 in Ocean View Cemetery, Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada.

He appeared on the census of 1881. He was living between 1887 and 1888 in Leadville, Colorado. He and Mary Adelaide Clark were divorced on 25 January 1900 in Chaffee County, Colorado, U.S.A. He immigrated on 18 February 1918 to White Rock, British Columbia, Canada. He lived in 1918 in Vancouver, British Columbia. He was a rooming house keeper. His death certificate showed him as a retired (typed) lumberman (hand written below), and no mention of a rooming house in 1929 in 172 4th Ave., Vancouver, British Columbia.

i. Marjorie Ethel4 was born on 14 April 1883 in New Annan, Prince County, Prince Edward Island. She married John Blacklock Lamb, son of Robert Lamb and Isabella Blacklock, on 30 September 1903 in Presbyterian Church, Shemogue, Westmorland County, New Brunswick, Canada.

She was commonly known as Marjorie. She was a domestic, living in the home of Joseph H. Brownell, his wife Jennie and two children, Hugh M. and Marjorie E. The younger child may have been named after Marjorie Ethel Walker on 31 March 1901 in Botsford Parish, Westmorland County, New Brunswick.

ii. Arthur Preston was born on 12 May 1890 in Granite, Chaffee County, Colorado. He married Ella Mae Townshend, daughter of Joseph Frank Townshend and Susannah Wallace, on 26 June 1912 in Moncton, Westmorland County, New Brunswick, Canada. He died on 23 May 1963 in Moncton Hospital, Moncton, Westmorland County, New Brunswick, Canada, at age 73. He was buried on 27 May 1963 in Elmwood Cemetery, Moncton, Westmorland County, New Brunswick, Canada.

He was commonly known as Arthur. He appeared on the census of 1911 in Amherst, Cumberland County, Nova Scotia. He was living in 1912 in Amherst, Cumberland County, Nova Scotia, Canada. He was a machinist with the Canadian National Railway in Moncton in 1912.

There were no children of George Price3 Walker and Mary A. Robinson.

There were no children of George Price3 Walker and Isabella Scott Walker.
