The Last Will and Testament of Thomas Murphy (-1864, Lot 39)

In the name of the Holy and undivided Trinity Amen I Thomas Murphy being of sane mind and understanding but feeble of body and infirm health do make and ordain this my last Will and Testament and revoking all other former Wills and Testaments by me made. And first of all I bequeath my soul to Almighty God who gave it and my body I bequeath to the earth whence it was taken to be buried in a decent christian manner.

Secondly as to such worldly estate wherewith it has pleased God to bless me I hereby depose of it in this manner and form following that is to say after my funeral expense are defrayed and all my other lawful debt I will and bequeath my beloved Son John the sum of one shilling British sterling .

Thirdly I will and bequeath my beloved Son Pierce the sum of one shilling British sterling.

Fourthly I will and bequeath my beloved Son Patrick the sum of one shilling British sterling.

Fifthly I will and bequeath my Son Michael all the Lands houses and Property in my possession namely fifty one acres upon which I now reside together with all the buildings stock crop farming implements and all household furniture also thirty five acres on Lot thirty nine 39

Sixthly I will and bequeath my daughter Catherine one shilling British sterling

Seventhly I will and bequeath my daughter Mary one shilling British sterling

Eighthly I will and bequeath my daughter Ellen the sum of one shilling British sterling

Ninthly I will and bequeath my daughter Joannie( illegible) one shilling British sterling

Tenthly I will and bequeath my Grand daughter Joanna One sheep

Finally I appoint my loving sons Michael and Pierce sole Executors of this my last Will and Testament

Signed and Executed in our presence the Subscribing witnesses this twenty first 21 day of September one thousand Eight hundred and Sixty four 1864
