The Will of Lorenzo Ramsay (-1891, O'Leary Station)


The Last Will and Testament of Lorenzo Ramsay filed on September 10, 1891. On the same day Probate was granted to James Barclay forever being reserved to grant same to other Executor, when required.

In the name of God, Amen. I Lorenzo Ramsay of O’Leary Station, Lot or Township #6, in Prince County, Province of Prince Edward Island, a Farmer, being now confined to my house with a serious illness but being nevertheless in the full possession of all of my mental faculties do make and publish this my last will and testament; I commit my soul into the hands of my heavenly Father trusting in his infinite goodness and mercy.

I give and divise to my Beloved wife Hannah Maria Ramsay all my personal and Real Estate after payment of my debts. The balance to be applied as she best can for the support of herself and my six children namely: Lora Jane Ramsay, Bertram Hanlon Ramsay, Sarah Alice Ramsay, Archibald Sherman Ramsay, Lottie Ramsay, Lorenzo Ramsay, and should my wife think best to have the personal and Real Estate sold the same may be done at her request by the Executors, and as long as she shall remain unmarried and my widow she shall have control of the proceeds of my Estate but on her decease or Marriage, at such time the remainder thereof I give and bequeath to my said named children and their heirs respectfully to be divided in equal shares between the. I give and bequeath one truck waggon to James Barclay. I ordain and appoint Samuel Ramsay of Tyne Valley and James Barclay of O’Leary Station as my executors of this my last will and testament; In testimony whereas I have hereunto set my hand and seal and publish and declare this to be my last will and testament

Signed, sealed, published and declared by the said Lorenzo Ramsay, as and for his last will and testament in the presence of us who at his request and in his presence and in the presence of each other have subscribed our names and witnesses thereto.

The written will of Lorenzo Ramsay being presented for Probate. Major McGregor one of the witnesses thereto made oath that he was present and did see the said testator sign, seal and deliver the same and also heard him publish and declare the same as and for his last will and testament and that when he so did he was of sound disposing mind and memory, According to this deposition best discerning and that he set and subscribed his name as witness thereto in the said testators presence and that Robert Ramsay set his name as a witness thereto at the same time.
