2. JOHN2 MCINNIS (JOHN 'RED JACK'1). He married MARY QUINLAN, daughter of MAURICE QUINLAN and ISABELLA MORLEY.

Mary Quinlan (1782-?)
Mary, daughter of Murice Quinlan, was born in Newfoundland in 1782 and in 1804 she married Michael Keating in Charlotte Town. From this marriage was born one son, Michael, Junior. Michael Sr. died in 1811.
After the death of Michael Keating, Sr. in 1811, his widow, Mary Quinlan Keating chose as her second husband, John McInnis, Junior, whom she married at Tyron River, Lot 28, in 1812. John McInnis, Jr. was the son of John 'Red Jack' McInnis, Senior, and his wife Isabella, from Gallow's Point, Lot 50, had immigrated to Prince Edward Island from the Isla of Barra,Scotland in 1780.
Mary Qunilan Keating's marriage to John McInnis, Junior was unacceptable to Maurice Quinlan because of a lawsuit brought against him by John McInnis, Junior for nonpayment of wages for labour performed. The judgement, in Maurice Quinlan's favour, was declared on August 25, 1814 by the Supreme Court of Prince Edward Island. Apparently John McInnis, Junior, refused to pay the amount of the judgement and nearly one year later, the Court ordered the Sheriff Frances Longworth, to collect the money from John McInnis, Junior, or to imprison him until the payment was made. Sheriff Frances Longworth, in a signed statement, indicated that John McInnis, Junior, had made payment in full to Maurice Quinlan on July 31, 1815.
Despite the strong feelings on the part of Maurice Quinlan aroused by his daughter Mary's second marriage, John and Mary McInnis named their first son, Maurice McInnis. Then followed the birth of six more children.
After two disasterous farming seasons due to the potato blight in 1845 and 1846, John and Mary McInnis, junior and their son, Maurice,and his wife, Catherine Elliott, decided during the winter of 1846-47 to leave Tyron River, Lot 28, and settle in Waterford, Lot 2 near Miminegash in the western part of the Island. John and Mary's family of three sons and four daughters were all born at Tyron River, Lot 28.
