I had posted a previous query (John Livingston - Lot 53 and 54 - 1803
)regarding the family of John and Sarah (Sally) Livingston in lot 53 and lot 54 in the area of Georgetown, PEI. Like I said before...John was born in Fort William Scotland. John and Sally had 3 unnamed daughters, 1 son Malcolm and a grandson Joseph listed in Sally's will before she died. Joseph had a very large family living in lot 54 and I am not aware of where any of the members of that family are. I have managed to find the whereabouts of Malcolm and he died after being hit by a train in New York while working as a police officer. He was hard of hearing and apparently didn't hear the train coming. Malcolm was born in Townsend Maine in 1814, so apparently John and Sarah spent some time in Maine around the time of the War of 1812. Malcolm also may have been referred to as Captain Malcolm Livingston, because he was the captain of a ship or ships earlier in his life. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge. I find this is a very interesting family and I would like to see if I can connect this family to other Livingston families in Atlantic Canada, so any information anyone has would be appreciated. Of interest is the fact that many family members of Dr. David Livingstone have been documented to have immigrated to Prince Edward Island, so I'm always looking for a possible Dr. Livingstone connection on PEI, aside from the Morrison family of the Belfast PEI area.

GALLANT
I am looking for the children of Jean Pierre Gallant and Agnes Arsenault who lived in the Mont Carmel area of PEI.In searching the Internet I have found the following that appears to be their children. Antoine Levi, Joseph Aubin, Marie Anne Obeline, Celestin Ovilda Yvon, and Emmanuel Amedus. My problem is that I came up with another Joseph Aubin that was born later than the first one but could not find a death on him. I have a birth for Jean Pierre in 1869, the son of Alexandre Gallant and Genevieve Arsenault. I do not have a marriage date for Jean Pierre. Any info on this inquiry would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

MACDONALD RESEARCH
An obituary from "The Charlottetown Hearld" of 17 April 1895 states:"MacDonald At Springfield Lot 67 at the residence of her son in law Isabella, relict of the late Alexander of Blooming Point, Tracadie in 93year of her age." Does anyone know who she might be? When did her husband Alexander died? Son in law would be John R. MacDonald. His wife is Mary E. MacDonald. I am assuming Isabella is the mother of Mary E. Isabella was living with the family at the time of the 1881 census. Children of John R and Mary E. are: Mary Eliza married to James Shreenan, Loretta married to Thomas Shreenan, Margaret Isabella married to John Murphy, Martha, Flora Ellen, Charles Leonard, Allan (died in Boston in 1907), Frank, John Alexander, Catherine Ann and Alfred James.

DINGWELL and DUCHEMIN Marriage
islandarchives.ca at UPEI has a great site where you can read quite a few old newspapers on line. There's The Guardian 1880 - 1921, The Cadre 1969 -, and The Sun 1977 - .
As of now I cannot find a way to search it - so you just have to go through each issue. In the Guardian I started browsing each page and looked for the heading "Local and Provincal - News and Gossip from Town and Country" which is usually in the middle of the newspaper. Here's one I found.
Thank you Andrea for leading me to this website.
The link below will take you directly to the article. Otherwise go in through the top link and see what else is there.

The Guardian August 24, 1898
The matrimonial vows were solemnized at Souris this morning at 8 o'clock between Mr. H. P. Duchemin, B.A., formerly of this city and now Professor of English and History in Pictou Academy, and Miss Carrie Dingwell, one of the most accomplished young ladies of Souris. The marriage took place at the residence of the bride's father, Mr. William R. Dingwell. Rev. J. R. McKay was the officiating clergyman. Mr. Ernest A. Duchemin, of the firm of A. Duchemin & Co., Charlottetown, acted as groomsman and Miss Laura McKinnon as bridesmaid. Many elegant presents were showered upon the bride from the hosts of friends with whom this popular young couple are favored. Prominent among the wedding gifts were a purse of gold accompanied by an address from the Presbyterian church, of which the bride was the efficient organist; a present from the choir and another, also accompanied by an address, from the bride's Sunday School class. After partaking of breakfast the bridal party boarded the train for Summerside whence Mr. and Mrs. Duchemin leave on a wedding trip through the Provinces, returning to Pictou by was of Annapolis Valley. To this clever young Island and his bride the Guardian extends heartiest congratulations.

MACDONALD RESEARCH
Reference book...."Lord of the Isles" by Hubert MacDonald published in 1945. Some of the families seem to be blended? It concencers the original Donald MacDonald who settled at Tracadie. He came with his brother Fr. James in 1772. I am trying to sort out the family of Donald's son James. The book says James married the first cousin of Hugh MacDonald of Georgetown (Hugh's parents were Andrew and Isabella MacDonald). Mary, his daughter married Donald MacDonald of Grand Tracadie. It then give possible incorrect list of children?
Dr. Jamaes listed as a son went to Boston. His death certificate gives his parents as Rondald and Mary so maybe Mary married Ronald of Gand Tracadie? Catherine died 21 July 1909. Her obituary lists her brothers Dr. J.A. of Boston, J.R. of Springfield and two sisters Mrs. J.A. of Grand Tracdie and Mrs. Charles of Blomming Point.
Checking the 1881 census there is a John R. married to Mary in Lot 67. Could this be a son of Ronald and Mary? Could Mary married to Charles in Blooming Point be a daughter? Could another daughter be Isabel Anne married to John Angus MacDonald of Grand Tracadie?
Other children of this Mary? Flora married to John MacIntyre? John James in Tracadie? Donald James in Freetown? Stephen died young and William died on the way to California.
Looking for hel in seeing what others think about what was recorded. It is found on p.111. The Ronald mentioned on p. 112 might be the father of the J.R. MacDonald

I'm looking for any information on Humphry (or Humphrey) Dyment, and his wife Mary Dyment (nee Ashton). They were born in England in 1795 and 1801, respectively, and came across and settled in PEI in the 1830's. More specifically, I'm looking for information as to when they came over from England. They were included in the 1841 Census, but I'd like to find a more specific date. As passenger lists are extremely rare for that time period, I've hit a roadblock. Any help would be appreciated!

Christmas Poem
Hi All! I've been looking for a copy of this Christmas Poem for years now. It was in my house growing up but has been lost. When my father was a small boy, in the late 1940's & 50's, my grandmother would always read him a poem entitled 'For Jimmy and Me'. It was printed on a piece of paper maybe 2 1/2" x 5 and had been distributed by a christian printing company as far as I can recall. It told the story of a young mother at Christmas time having just lost her son 'Jimmy', "..I never knew a Christmas to be so sad..". It continued with a urchin boy coming to her door asking for some food and when the mother asked where his parents were he replied "..they say Mama's in heaven but I saw them carry her out. Then the man with the big brass buttons told me to move along and smiled when I told him I hadn't done anything wrong." She then took him in and when Father came home, the little boy was asleep in their late son's bed. "How could I turn him away when I thought of the dear little Christ Child with no place to lay his head..." It ends with Father going out for a tree. If anyone has any information on how to find a copy of this, please contact me. I would be eternally grateful as this small poem is such an important part of my family's oral history and I would truly love to share this my own children some day and tell them of their amazing Great Grandmother Vera who passed away at Dec 21, 1993. Happy Christmas to you all!!
Sincerely,
Diana

Mooney/Curran families
Hello
My sister and I recently purchased a home directly across from Mooney's Pond in Peakes, and would love to know the history of the families (Mooney/Curran)who originally built the house and lived there over the years. The house is approximately 140 years old to our knowledge. We cherish the house and location but would love to know about the day to day lives of the people who lived in this special location. Thanks.... Sonia

MCDOUGALL, MARTHA P.
Seeking information on my great grandmother...Martha P. McDougall, born abt. 1865...on PEI based upon US census documents.
Probably the same Martha that lived with Daniel Gillis family in lot 3 on 1881 PEI census.
Married Samuel Ebenezer Beairsto (neighbor of Gillis and son of Ebenezer Beairsto) in 1881.
Migrated to US and lived in Maine, New Hampshire and Mass until death in 1942.
I have been unable to document her parents or any information prior to the marriage. ANY help would be greatly appreciated. There is no death cert available despite having located her grave ETC. My working theory based on circumstantial evidence ...[her daughter having the middle name of "Powell", her first born son John having the middle name of "Hector"]... is that she was the sister of Daniel Gillis wife (Eleanor McDougall) and daughter of Hector McDougal and Elizabeth Powell Hardy.....more information on that available if it will help.
Thanks...Dave

From separate sources, I have information about Mary Jane BRYANTON's parents. She was born in 1838, died 1889 and was married to John CASELEY (1838-1922).
One good source has her parents John and MaryAnn (Stone) Bryanton of England.
Other sources seem to indicate John and Maria (Brown) Bryanton from Spring Valley.
Does anyone have the definitive answer to this discrepancy?

Further to my posting re Peter McPherson: The Daily Colonist, Victoria, B. C. Friday, Nov. 30, 1888
"An accident occurred today at 1:30 at Sailor Bar Bluff, on the CPR, eight miles east of Yale, by which Peter McPherson and ? Coombes were killed and W. Geisler was fatally injured. All were bridge carpenters. This was an old slide which has given trouble before, and is the one which the CPR are disputing about with the government with a view to having it cut down to a proper angle. There was but slight damage to the bridge. The train will go out on time to-morrow. Today's train was cancelled and the passengers were brought back to Vancouver. The train only went to Westminster junction. These slides are of common occurrences. No train was caught in the slide."

While visiting the pioneer cemetery in Yale, B. C., my daughter came across a headstone with the following inscription:
In memory of Peter McPherson, accidentally killed on Sailor Bar Bluff, Nov. 29, 1888, aged 30 years. A native of Murray Harbor Pond, P. E. I.
Erected by his mother.
If Peter's family would like a copy of the photo my daughter took..I would be happy to send it on to them.

MORRISON
Am looking for parents of Catherine Morrison b. 15 May 1812 according to the 1901 Census of Lot 54 when she was living next to the McCormack family in Kings County. She left PEI in 1874 with her husband William TAYLOR, and traveled to Eureka, California where he was a logger, farmer, miner. When she married him she left the Roman Catholic Church. Her husband was killed as was a son Nathan, and sometime before the 1891 PEI census, she returned. She reestablished her membership in the church and died March 1903. She was buried March 14 1903 at St Georges Catholic Cemetery next to the Church.
Her Will was written for her, left money to the Church, the Reverend Gregory McDonald the parish priest, and to Sarah Catherine McCormack, widow of Angus. We do not know who Catherine's parents were, nor who Sarah Catherine McCormack was. We do know Catherine Taylor's children in PEI and in California protested the Will. The document was "unusual" with cross outs and signed with an "X". Where are her Morrison family????

GALLANT
Hello, way back in March 2010 I posted a query regarding my great grandfather, Christopher Gallant. This was answered very promptly by a very helpful lady and I am now hoping someone can help me once again. The information I was given was that Christin Gallant was baptised in January 1836 at St Augustines, the parents were Isaac and Maria Gallant. I have now found Christopher's marriage record (in the UK) which confirmed his father as being Isaac. This, and the fact that the birth dates are the same, leads me to be 90% confident that Christin was my great granddad. My request is for any info about Isaac and Maria. I am estimating that Isaac was probably born around 1800.I would love to find their marriage record and Maria's maiden name.Any info will be gratefully received, thank you all very much, Lynne.x PS. Christopher enlisted in the marines in the UK in 1860 but I have no idea when he left PEI.Thanks again.

Mrs. Margaret A. Auld nee Crabbe married to George E. Auld seems to have become Mrs. M. A. Pomeroy marrying A. A. Pomeroy around 1919.
The offices of Auld Brothers and A.A. Pomeroy were both located in the same house at 12 Brighton Rd. Charlottetown.
I cannot find any record of this and I cannot find a record of what happened to George Auld.
Any information appreciated

WHITTY FAMILY OF SOURIS AND CHARLOTTETOWN
Hi, I am researching the Whitty (Whittey, Whittie) family of Charlottetown and Souris/Souris River/Rollo Bay area.
I would love to correspond with distant cousins/Whitty researchers. I would also love to find any old photographs that may exist of Whitty ancestors, to help flesh out my family tree.
The members of this family are descendants of Patrick Whitty (from Wexford, Ir) and Mary Parker (of English descent), who settled in Souris in the late 1820s. Patrick may have come to PEI by way of New Foundland, but the facts are unclear.
Anyone with information about this family, please feel free to contact me at my email address above. Thanks!

GALLANT, MOSES
My 3rd great grandfather Moses (Moyse, Moise) Gallant was married to Ann Brennan on 1/18/1864 at St. Dunstan's in Charlottetown. The best man was Maurice Doucette. Ann was the daughter of Thomas Brennan (Charlottetown police officer) and Joanna Mackey, both of Ireland. Moses and Ann had two daughters, Mary Ellen/Florence b. 1/18/1865 and Edessa Lilias (Edith Lillian) born 12/4/1870.
I do not have a birth or death date for Moses. He was a master mariner (sea captain) and he died at sea before 1880. One of his daughter's godparents was Paul Paoli, also a master mariner.
Moses Gallant was apparently a common name and I have not been able to find further information about my ancestor. If anyone can help, please contact me. Even a small hint or piece of information could help.

GALLANT
Hi. I am making an inquiry to anyone who may have knowledge of the below family who lived on the Howlan Road and were members of St. Anthony's Parish in Bloomfield, PEI. This couple were my late paternal grandparents. I am trying to locate a photograph of my grandfather Octave Gallant. I do have a photo of my grandmother. I am hoping that someone who may have had grandparents or great-grandparents who lived along the Howlan Road in the early part of the last century might have some photographs of their neighbors or friends from that time. I am wondering if it also might be possible that the parish may have archived photographs of parishioners? That would be interesting. Thanks in advance. Gary

CHARLES and FLORA MCLEAN
I have recently discovered your site. It has a lot of useful info!
Have been looking at records online about my great grandparents, Charles and Flora MacLean, who farmed in Lot 55 from 1864 until their deaths. Have also seen Charles' will on this site and an undated map on the Island Imagined site which gives a description of the property. Would be interested in any advice about how to trace the land owners/tenants on that property before Charles and Flora arrived there from Inverness county, NS. The will cited the property as bounded by the Grand River on one side, Cumberland Hill Rd. on another and situated it between two other plots owned by M*Leans.
Have already looked at online census records. I will visit NS and PEI starting next Mon., Sep. 5. Am also wondering if where I can find records connecting the original M*Lean tenants on this property with the Selkirk lands.
One hypothesis is that some common ancestor came to PEI circa 1808 and that the sons, perhaps including the fathers of both my great grandparents struck out on their own and started families in Whycocomogh (Charles) and Sydney (Donald) respectively. Then, after the cousins, Charles and Flora, married, they may have followed the train back to PEI. I know that untangling all the parts of this tangle may take a long time but am interested in getting started. It is complicated since all the main protagonists have the same last name!
My grandmother, (Sarah) Ruth MacLean Maney was born on this property and emigrated as a young woman to the Boston area, went through nurse's training in Lawrence, MA, and married my grandfather, John J. Maney there. My father, John MacLean Maney, was the only surviving child of Ruth and John, a sister, Jessie, having died as an infant. Will appreciate any info that listers may have on this and other MacLean relatives who lived in Lot 55.

James Forbes Doull was born 10/2/1842 West River Nova Scotia, Canada to John Doull and Elizabeth (presumed Blaikie/Blaike/Baikie) Can anyone find his death to confirm his parents and did John and Elizabeth marry in Canada or in Scotland before they emigrated. I am trying to establish the link to Johns family in Scotland eventually but need to sort the info in Canada first if I can. There seems to be other childre to this couple according to info I have recieved but can't find any records to confirm this. Cheers. Pat

MacDonald - Perry
Looking for information on a Margaret/Marjorie McDonald who was married to Jerome Poirier/Perry. Marriage took place about 1868 in Indian River, PEI.
Marjorie's parents with Roderick McDonald and Catherine (Kitty) McIntyre. Jerome and Marjorie have four known children Marie Catherine (1868), John Roderick (1870), Joseph Allan (1872), and Elizabeth Modeste (1876). They were living in Lot 17 and the baptisms of the children took place at St. John the Baptist in Miscouche. By the 1881 census Margaret has died along with John Roderick and Elizabeth. Jerome had remarried to Lilly Arsenault. There is also a Mary McDonald (born 1863) living in the home. How is she related to the family?

WILSON/STEWART/BROWN
I am interested in learning more about a family, which is listed on the island register web site, the Descendants of Thomas Hyde, specifically the following people:
4. Isabella Hyde (1.Thomas1) b. ___ 1760, County Clare, Ireland, m. Jan 15 1781, John Wilson, b. ___ 1750, Occupation: Carpenter, d. Apr 07 1828, Note: Resided, Lot 32, York River, PEI, Apr 1798 Census. Isabella died May 19 1822, Interred: May 21 1822, St. Paul's Cem., Charlottetown, PEI., Note: Resided, Lot 32, York River, PEI, Apr 1798 Census.
Children:
iii James Wilson b. ___ 1788, m. Feb 09 1841, Isabella Stewart, b. ___ 1819. James died CIR 1880.
In an archived message group I have come across at url:
http://groups.yahoo.com/group/DavisCornr/message/290
It lists the following information:
4. Isabella Hyde #8205 b. ___ 1760, County Clare, Ireland., m. Jan 15 1781,
John Wilson #8222, b. ___ 1750, Occupation: Carpenter, d. Apr 07 1828, Note:
Resided, Lot 32, York River, PEI, Apr 1798 Census. Isabella died May 19 1822,
Interred: May 21 1822, St. Paul's Cem., Charlottetown, PEI., Note: Resided,
Lot 32, York River, PEI, Apr 1798 Census. John: John's family are listed in
the April, 1798 census commissioned by Gov. Fanning: (2-1-0, 3-2-0), total of
8. John and Isabella were married by Rev. Theopolis DesBrisay.
iii James Wilson #8225 b. ___ 1788, m. Feb 09 1841, Isabella Stewart #8231,
b. ___ 1819. James died CIR 1880. James married Isabella Stewart, daughter of
John Stewart of "Apple Tree Farm", he was 31 years older than she. Married.
On Tuesday last,(9 Feb 1841), Mr. James Wilson, Elliott River, to Isabella,
daughter of Donald Stewart of Apple Tree Farm. - Royal Gazette, Thuesday, 16
Feb 1841. A note says that he was 31 years older than she, and that he lived
to 94.
Can ANYONE tell me if their marriage was actually recorded in 1841 or if it was the following year, I have been unable to locate a marriage record for the above named James Wilson and Isabella Stewart.
Is it probable that this James Wilson married Jesse Stewart, daughter of Donald Stewart and not Isabella Stewart 11 Feb 1841?
I have also found some information in a book titled: Marshfield and Area A Grand Legacy published by the Marshfield Pioneer Trust Fund Committee, Charlottetown 2001. On page 83 it has information about Donald Stewart and Descendants (Apple Tree Stewarts).
Lists Donald being married to Janet(Jessie) Scott and having 7 children
Christiana b. 1807
John b. 1810
Margaret b. 1812
Alexander b. 1814
Isabella b. 1816 married John Fergusson
Donald b. 1820
Jane b. 1821
I think Jesse may be a part of this family and is omitted from this information but do not have any evidence other than her death that links her to Donald as second daughter she would have been born in 1809 after Christiana and before John.
I am trying to find parentage information for James Wilson and Jesse Stewart, any information for the Wilson and Stewart Families that you can provide would be greatly appreciated.
Thank You

CASEY/FARROW, FERROW or FERRELL
My name is Shawn Casey. I am looking for any information regarding my ancestors Denis Casey and Anna or Hanah (Farrow, Ferrow or Farrell; the spelling of the name varies) and their children. From my current research I have an 1881 census which has my relatives in Lot 2, Prince Parish, on Prince Edward Island.
At the time of the 1881 census the family included:
Denis Casey, male, age 50, a carpenter and farmer, Irish, born about 1831 in New Brunswick
Anna or Hanah (Farrow or Ferrow), female, his wife, age 35, English, born about 1846 on Prince Edward Island
Timothy, male, age 14, Irish, born about 1867 on Prince Edward Island
Prescilla, female, age 11, Irish, born about 1870 on Prince Edward Island
William H., male, age 9, Irish, born 25 Feb. 1872 on Prince Edward Island (my great-grandfather)
Hilleron, male, age 7, Irish, born about 1874 on Prince Edward Island
Francis J., male, age 4, Irish, born November 1876 on Prince Edward Island
James, male, age 2, Irish, born 16 September 1879 on Prince Edward Island
Also, there were two other children born after the 1881 census, who were:
Mary Ann, female, Irish, born 16 January 1882 on Prince Edward Island
Hannah, female, Irish, born about 1884 on Prince Edward Island
I also have found the baptismal record information from St. Simon & St. Jude Catholic Church in Tignish for four of their children:
Francis Joseph (baptized 24 Jan. 1877) Parents Dennis Casey and Hanah Farrell. Sponsors were Augustine Hackett and Mary Arseneaux. Baptized by Rev. Dugald M. Mac Donald.
James (baptized 12 Oct. 1879) Parents were Denis Casey and Hannah Farrow sponsors were James Casey and Ellen McIntyre. Baptized by Rev. Dugald M. Mac Donald.
Mary Ann (baptized 17 April 1882), Denis Casey and Anna Ferrow, sponsors were Laurent Perry and Blanche Arsenault. Baptized by Fr. Guay.
Hanah (baptized 1 Nov. 1884) sponsors were William Fitzpatrick and Mrs. Fitzpatrick. Baptized by Rev. Dugald M. Mac Donald.
My great grandfather William H. Casey emigrated to the United States and settled in Lowell, Massachusetts in 1896. He later married Elizabeth Ann Hanley.
I have been informed by my father that my great grandfathers younger brother James also emigrated to the United states at a later time, and possibly settled in Lynn, Massachusetts.
Thank you in advance for your cooperation, consideration and assistance in this matter.

MACDOUGAL
I am seeking information on my great grandmother;
Martha P. MacDougal, born 1865 @ unk., PEI. (an alternate dob of 1866 is unsubstantiated)
1881 Census; 17 y/o listed as living with the family of Daniel Gillis in lot 3. Wife of Daniel Gillis is Eleanor McDougal of Hector McDougald and Elizabeth Powell Hardy.
23 Sep 1881 married to Samuel Ebenezer Beairsto, also of lot 3 and son of Ebenezer Beairsto and Mary Harding.
Based upon her living with Eleanor Gillis (I suspect her sister?), the use of family names (Powell, Hector) as middle names for their children John HECTOR Beairsto and Mildred POWELL Beairsto, my operating assumption is that Martha P. is the child of Hector and Elizabeth Powell Hardy...may have been Martha Powell McDougal and would have been the middle of three children in the marriage of Hector McDougal and Elizabeth Powell Hardy. (Hector went on to have children with subsequent wifes.)
ANY information on my Martha P. McDougal would be greatly appresiated. I would particularly like to establish her parentage. She went on to live in the US until 1945 but none of her documentation lists her parents!

McDonald, Christina or Christy. Born Dec 17, 1862, probably at Brookfield, PEI. Apparently the farm was at the junction point of several lots, so it is listed as on lot 31, 32, and 24. Daughter of Alexander McDonald. Married John McDonald, of Lot 24, about 1881. Children Maggie, Christina, Donald, Alexander, Mary, George, Annie. Her siblings were Catherine - 1852, married Jesse Corbett; Donald M. McDonald: Alexander - 1858 (Alexander inherited the farm); John A. McDonald - 1871; Mary 1874; possibly Annie McDonald? John A. and Donald are not mentioned in Alexander's will, although Donald's daughter Fiona is.
I am looking for any information about her, I would particularly like to find the name of her mother. I have a copy of the 1888 will of Alexander McDonald. I also wonder if anyone has information on her sister Mary, I have a feeling that Mary married a Burns and moved to the Edmonton area. Family heresay says that Christy had a sister Annie who married George Mallett of North Granville, but I can't confirm that Annie was a sister. I am also wondering if her husband, John McDonald might have been a cousin. Several of the McDonalds eventually moved to the Edmonton area as did her niece Euphemia Anne Corbett Mallett.

my name is Kathy S. Hubbard. My birth mother was Madeline Mutch. I was adopted and born in Philipsburg Kansas on October 7, 1950. My mother lived and worked in Denver, Colorado at that time. She had to have been in her late teens and born around 1933 or so. Later I heard that she got married and had children but I can't find anyone in the family because all the information I have is her maiden name and Kansas has no records of my birth or adoption. Please help me find my family. I am now 60 yrs. old.

Some of the surnames below were well established by 1752 in the Malpec

Arcenauld (another spelling of Arsenault ? )

Looking for a French source on the Annabella
Excerpts below are from "The Island Acadians" by Georges Arsenault, Ragweed Press, PEI (isbn 0-921556-77-2)
* 1768 census there are 203 Acadians of which ten families live in Malpeque .
* Some of the returning families after the 1758 expulsion had been among the first inhabitants of the colony in 1720.
* The main family names in this group were Blanchard,DesRoches,Cheverie, Gallant, Arsenault, and Martin.
*The Acadians had to wait until 1770 before they were able to welcome their first priest, Father James MacDonald .....
Does anyone know of an Acadian source regarding the 1770 shipwrecked passengers of ANNABELLA ? A momentous event such as this surely would have been mentioned in a personal or clergy diary/journal, oral family lore/tradition of the surnames listed above.

BANYARD
My grandfather Arthur Charles Banyard arrived in PEI in November 1926. He travelled to Canada on the ship Arabic and landed in Halifax. He was a Baptist minister and on the ship's passenger list his address in PEI is given as "Parsonage, Tryon."
I would be grateful if there is anyone who could give me any information about the parsonage. Arthur's wife and children arrived in the spring of 1927. Unfortunately, his wife became ill and the family returned to England later that year.
Any information gratefully received.

FAMILY SEARCH UPDATED SITE
I posted this in March but it was in last archive so here it is again.
MASTER NAME INDEX AVAILABLE
Hi everyone researching, I have just found out about this new resource. It's the LDS (Family Search) new page. Updated and improved. We can access the Master Name Index for births and deaths for a certain date range.
Here's what to do - Fran
http://www.familysearch.org
Place cursor over "Search Records" (will get a drop down menu) and click on "Record Search Pilot"
Click on Search or Browse our record collections
Click on map of Canada
Scroll down for PEI but see all the other information.
PEI Baptism Card Index 1721 -1885 (browse images only)
PEI Census 1861
PEI Canada Death Card Incex, 1721 -1885 (browse images only)
PEI Marriage Registers, 1832-1888 (browse images only)
Marriage Index is just a list of Groom and Bride - and page to locate it on the LDS Film. But it will help with Maiden names of the Ladies. And you can use the page and scroll/browse through the marriages and magnify and see the actual page. Takes time.
Death Card Index - gives full card as does the Baptism Card Index.
You can click and go page to page or enter a number to move quickly forward.
You can magnify - see bottom to the right.
And you can print these out.
Terrific resource. Fran

By 1920 Albert Angus Finlayson had moved to the state of Washington where he married, raised 5 children, and died. I would love to communicate with anyone who can give me insights into what Kings, Lot 59 was like during this time period.
For instance, was there a lot of hardship there or did great-grandpa just have a desire to move far away? Do you have any pictures or documents of this area or ties to this family that you could share? Do you have a link to a cemetery where Finlaysons are buried? A description of this part of P.E.I.? I have names and dates but they just don't satisfy my curiosity about what these people were like, how they lived, where they lived and worked and attended schools/churches, etc. A time travel machine sure would be helpful! And of course any information on John & Margaret Finlayson, their children Angus Albert, J. Simon, and Jessie Laura would be extremely helpful.

CAMPBELLS OF LOT 23
I am looking for information on any of the Campbell families that lived in the southern part of Lot 23. On the 1880 map of Lot 23, there are four families whose properties front onto the Argyle Rd. - Norman Campbell, Donald Campbell, D.E. Campbell and Neil Campbell. D.E Campbell was a son of Norman.
The people living with Neil Campbell were most likely his unmarried siblings and probably the children of John Campbell (b. abt. 1780) and Mary McKinnon (b. 1787)based on Brookfield cemetery transcript. John and Mary would have emigrated before 1819 since Neil was born in Scotland abt 1806 but his siblings were all born in PEI after 1819. There may have been other children born in Scotland or PEI.
I also know that an Alexander Campbell and his wife Flora McSwain emigrated to the area about 1830 and according to baptism records had four children. I expect there were more and wonder if the Donald who has property next to Norman might have been a son of Alexander. Norman b. 1810 was probably a son of either John or Alexander.
I have evidence that all these folks came from Portree, Isle of Skye. I would like to hear from anyone who has any knowledge of these families.

HENNESSEY/FARDY
Hi I am researching my grandfathers grandparents, John Hennessey and Margaret Fardy. They lived in Vernon River and married around 1860. Most of their children were born on the island, but my my grandfather's mom was born in Boston. I have used familysearch.org to see indexes, and I found a baptism index for Margaret Fardy, parents Peter Fardy and Esther Moore. Boston, Mass death records indicate John Hennessey's dad John was from Ireland; mom Ann Sigsworth from England; Margaret Fardy's dad came from Ireland according to her death record, and her mom Quebec. I may have found a marriage record for Margarets parents in the late 1830s in Richbucto, NB (?), not far from PEI. Was curious if these names are familiar to anyone. I believe their church was St Joachim in Vernon River. I may be making my first trip to the island Summer 2011 and would like to do some research. Would anyone be able to direct me to an appropriate source or with info on any of the above people? Thanks!

SAM BEATON's DIARY
Fortunately I have been able to obtain the original writings by my grandfather, Sam Beaton, Bonshaw, P.E.I. He was quite articulate as Sam came to Bonshaw as a young man in the 1880's from Hunter River where he was born in 1860 as the youngest son of Farquhar and Flora(Nicholson) Beaton, who settled in the Hazel Grove/Hunter River area in 1839 from the Scottish highlands.
Sam married Catherine MacNevin the daughter of a general store owner in Bonshaw. I think this lead Sam to operating a large Bonshaw General Store and Post Offices in Bonshaw and Hampton as well as a hotel in Bonshaw. After his first wife died at an early age, he married Fanny Myers from Hampton and six more children were born adding to the three sons from the first family. From his time in business and the Bonshaw school he became widely known in the adjoining communities from Charlottetown and the South Shore areas. He loved trout fishing and he did some farming as well as fox breeding. His writing covered activities from 1927 to 1945 when he died. I recognize many of the hundreds of people he had working for him and as passengers on his son Toff's boat that cruised the river from Bonshaw to Ch'town with loads of potatoes from area farmers. If anyone wants to know about a name mentioned in his diary, you can send me an e-mail.

William parents were: John MacGillvary (b. 1815 PEI) and Bridget Delaney (b. 1837 prob. in Ireland); and they married in Massachusetts in 1854).

John Livingston - Lot 53 and 54 - 1803
Hi There
I'm doing research on John Livingston who first shows in a land conveyance document in 1803, in Georgetwon. He later had a son born in Maine, Captain Malcolm, who had business interests in PEI in later years. John had a grandson Joseph in lot 54, and in this same area I have seen an Alexander who I am guessing is John's other son. John's wife was Sarah Campbell and she was living in PEI at the end of the 19th century, but John is an unknown in any census documents I can find. I do know that John was born in Fort William, Scotland. This family may have significant historical signifigance for PEI and the home country of Scotland. Any information about these families in the Cardigan, St. Georges, Georgetown area of PEI would be very helpful. I cannot find any Livingston descendents of this family. I would like to know the origin of this family and try to connect it with other Livingston families in the Maritimes. I know what happened to the son Malcolm and anyone interested in this can let me know.

ARBING
I have just started researching the ARBING family of PEI. I have the data on the family in NB, one James Spurgeon Arbing, born August 29, 1864 in Hunter River. He also had a brother that settled with him in NB, one Nicholas B. Arbing. If anyone has any info on this family I would appreciate it.

MACDONALD
Doing cemetery research at Holy Cross Cemetery (just our side of San Francisco)I came across a Teresa MacDonald born 26 Nov 1851 in Canada who died 5 May 1942 in San Francisco. She is buried in the same plot with Alexander Duncan MacInnis (Alexaner's mother was Margaret North Pole MacDonald). I don't know who Teresa is. U.S. census records show that she came in 1918 to California. She was living with her daughter Gertrude Florence MacDonald Potts. Gertrude was born in Victoria, B.C. in 1883. I know Teresa's husband's name was Alexander MacDonald. I suspect Teresa is from PEI? The only Teresa and Alexander MacDonald I found on the 1881 census were in PEI Lot 44. I do not know if that is this couple. Alexander and Teresa are on the 1901 Victoria census. She is a widow by 1911 and by 1920 census is living in California. Gertrude was married in Victoria in 1906 to Clayton Wilbert Potts. Maybe Teresa is someone's missing person? Maybe she was a sister to Matilda MacDonald McInnis (wife of Alexader MacInnis)?

BLACKETT
BLACKETT Hannah Blackett (daughter of Levi, Poplar Point, Kings County) had 3 children Annabelle in 1926, Walter in 1928, both born in Poplar Pont. Margaret Hilda was born in Charlottetown in 1931. A relative is looking for information on Annabelle and Walter. It is believed that both Annabelle & Walter went to John Nicholsons (Nickerson ?) In Orwell Cove in 1934 but were returned to the orphanage in 1936. Later in 1936 Annabelle went to Douglas Milligans in McNeills Mills area and we do not have any more information on her. Walter is believed to have scarlet fever in 1938 but we have no more information on him.

BUCHANAN
I am looking for a Daniel Buchanan who was born on Prince Edward Island around 1840. He later went to Michigan USA and married in 1867. No information is available on his parents names or siblings. I found a Daniel Buchanan on the 1850 Canadian census But can not confirm a connection to my family. Family lore has three brothers immigrating from Scotland to Canada. Do not know if one of these brothers was Daniels father or grandfather.
