The Will of Edward Ramsay (-1837, Oyster Cove)


Will of Edward Ramsay, Oyster Cove, PEI, farmer, dated 4th July 1832; probate granted June 7, 1837. Transcribed by Ann Smith from: RG 6.2, Series 1, Probate Court Register of Wills, 1807-1920, Vol. 3, pp. 137-138. Prince Edward Island Public Archives and Records Office. [Edward Ramsay was the younger nephew of John Ramsay; both arrived on the Annabella in 1770; Edward married Flora MacKay Feb 13, 1790.]

In the Name of God, Amen. I Edward Ramsay of Oyster Cove in Prince County Prince Edward Island Farmer, being of sound and disposing mind, memory and understanding but weak in body and mindful of my mortality do this fourth day of July in the year of our Lord One thousand, eight hundred and thirty two make and publish this my last Will and Testament in manner and form following, that is to say, First, I commend my Soul into the hands of Almighty God my Creator hoping for a remission of all my sins through the mediation of Jesus Christ my Saviour, and my body I commit to the Earth to be decently interred at the discretion of my Executors hereinafter named And as to all my worldly Estate both real and personal, I give devise and bequeath the same as follows, First I give and bequeath to my Son Neil Ramsay of the Shipyard the twenty Acres of land which I purchased of David McGregor And for which Dugald Stewart Esquire is to give me a Deed ordering that said Deed be made in the name of my said Son Niel his Heirs and Assigns, Also I give, devise and bequeath to my Son Donald Ramsay the farm on which I reside with the whole stock, houses and Appurtenances as they shall be at the time of my death, ordering however and it is my will that my beloved Wife Flora shall have said farm and stock at her disposal for her support during her life time, And I do hereby make, ordain, nominate constitute and appoint Dugald Ramsay of Oyster Cove and Donald Ramsay of Beech point, Executors of this my last Will and Testament. -- In Witness whereof I have to this my last Will and Testament set and subscribed my hand and seal the day and year first above written.---
