Will of Jacob Ling (1819-1895) of New Glasgow Road, Queens County, PEI.

Know all men by these presents that Jacob Ling of New Glasgow road, Queens County, Prince Edward Island, Farmer, being of sound and disposing mind and memory do hereby make this my last will and testament:

1st I give and bequeath to my daughter Margaret Ann, now Mrs. Charles Sellar, Fifty Dollars

2nd I give and bequeath to my daughter Jane, now Mrs. James Turpel the sum of twenty five Dollars.

3rd I give and bequeath to my daughter Amelia, now Mrs John Murray the sum of fifty Dollars.

4th I give and bequeath to my daughter Harriet, now Mrs. Benjamin Houston the sum of fifty Dollars.

5th I give and bequeath to my daughter Annie S., now Mrs. Alexander MacKay the sum of three hundred and forty dollars. Provided that the said Annie S. pays the sum of one hundred and forty dollars to me to pay an incumbrance of that amount on my Estate.

6th I give and bequeath to my daughter Eliza M. the sum of Three Hundred Dollars.

7th I give and devise to my son Jacob Ling all my real estate of sixty two acres of land together with all the farming implements, Stock and a lot of Carpenter tools. He the said Jacob Ling is to pay all my lawful debits and funeral expenses together with the payments of all the bequests mentioned in this my will as hereinafter provided. That is to say to my daughters Margaret Ann, Jane, Amelia and Harriet to be paid within two years from date of this, my will. My daughter Annie S. to be paid the aforesaid one hundred and forty Dollars Cash. And the balance two hundred dollars within two years from the date of this will. My daughter Eliza M. to be paid one hundred dollars cash and the balance in tow years from date of this will.

8th To my wife Elizabeth one hundred dollars cash together with my house and the movables contained therein during her natural life – My daughter Eliza M. to have a home with her mother until her mother’s death. Both Eliza M. and my wife to have a cow and the riding wagon and buggy harness until my wife Elizabeth’s death then the wagon and harness to go to my son Jacob. My daughter Eliza M. to have a good bed and bedding also the easy chair and some other of the furniture.

My son Jacob is to maintain my wife and Eliza M. comfortable, that is to say provide Board and fuel during the natural life of my Wife.

It is my will that Horace Ling, son of Jacob Ling is to receive my real estate at my son Jacob’s death. My Wife and Eliza M. to have free use of the road from the house to the Main Road.

I appoint Richard E. Bagnall and Arthur B. Dickieson of New Glasgow executors of this my last will and testament. In witness whereof I the said Jacob Ling have set my hand and seal this eleventh day of December one thousand eight hundred and ninety four.

This will was proved on the 25th day of May on the Oath of Arthur B. Dickieson one of the subservitory witnesses thereto and was filed and Registered the same day.
