IMPORTANT NOTICES!
Hi Folks:
- I have since edited the messages mentioned to put them in normal mixed case and removed the duplicate entries I found.
- Please do not post advertisements on this page for web sites unrelated to Prince Edward Island, History, or Genealogy. Due to recent abuses, these will be considered spam, and those who leave them will be banned from accessing the Island Register.
- Please do not use all upper case in queries. It makes these queries difficult to read and I do not have the time to retype queries which are totally in upper case. Please use normal mixed case, with the exception of surnames. The reason for using upper case in surnames and titles is it makes them stand out for those quickly scanning the book for related surnames - if messages are in all upper case, this cannot be done... As this continues to be a problem, from now on, entries which have been made in upper case will be labelled as such, even after I have edited them to put them in normal case. If I do not have time to edit them, they will be deleted without warning.
- Also, if making an entry, be aware that at high load times of the day, it can take some time for the server to come back and acknowledge your entry. Please do not submit the same message twice. If you have clicked on enter once, it will be entered in the book. Clicking it a second time creates a duplicate entry.
- Please proofread before submitting your query (particularily your email address). As a couple of all upper case queries have been left following my posting this message originally, I am moving this message up to the top of the book so that people won't miss it... "pLEASE wATCH yOUR cAPS lOCK kEYS"!

Clemmie's Autographs
Hi
Recently looking through some old stuff I can across a book of Autographs belong to Clemmie MacDonald of Panmure Island.
She was born c1870 so she was a teenager when these were written - late 1880s.
Each has a poem attached which I will not type out until I have more time but I printed some names dates and places. Maybe it will interest some.
I best remember her as a distinguished lady in her 80s. I was assigned the task of playing cards with her. No one else wanted to play with her. Might have been the way she shuffled a pack in each hand alerted them to the danger!
Hope this might be of interest to some. Many more names to follow if anyone is interested I will post them later. All the best in 2008
Paul

Good Day:
I am searching for information on my great grandfather, ALEXANDER JAMES FRAZER. His US naturalization papers indicate that he was born in "Crapo" (sic)
Crapaud, Prince Edward Island and granted US citizenship on 24 October 1892. His wife was Mary A. Niles although I do not have any information on her. They must have moved from the island to Nova Scotia as my grandfather, Joseph Hugh Frazer was baptized at Saint Jerome's Church in West Caledonia, Queens County, Nova Scotia on 22 January 1882. My grandfather's sponsors were Peter Shea and Jane Lannan which may provide additional insight.

The Government of PEI has completed some clean up of the cemetery, removing old trees and shrubs. If you live near the area and would like to take a look please do so. Access to the cemetery is either via the shore or via the Right Of Way trail that starts at the end of the 'private road', which in fact you can travel on. I will not be able to visit the cemetery myself until next summer but I would love to hear your comments regarding the clean up work!

MATHESON ~ JENKINS ~ ROSS
Kenneth MATHESON was born c1840, actual place unknown. Married 1862 in Charlottetown to Rebecca Elizabeth JENKINS born 1844, daughter of John 'The Councillor' JENKINS and Charlotte Sophia MURRAY.
We know positively, Kenneth MATHESON was the son of Kenneth MATHESON and Ann ROSS. We know he had died by 1881 as Rebecca is in the Charlottetown census, with all the children still living at home. We also know they were originally from Lot 48 & 49 (in particular). Rebecca was born at Mt Albion, but as far as we know, their children were born in charlottetown.
On Mary Jane's MATHESON's 1892 marriage registry in Lower Sackville, Halifax Co. Nova Scotia, her father Kenneth MATHESON is described as "M Mariner". Mary Jane married William STONE born 1867 Lower Sackville (Old Windsor Rd/Cobequid Rd) Halifax County, NOVA SCOTIA ~ not in New Brunswick, which the Nicholas Henckell JENKINS lineage stated. Mary Jane & William are my great-grandparents.
We have no more information regarding Kenneth or his parents, but would like to be able to connect them to other MATHESONs and ROSS'. Last year after searching every day for a full week at the PEI Archives, I didn't find a thing, regarding our Kenneth. Very discouraging!
Does anyone have this Kenneth(s) MATHESON or Ann ROSS within their family lines?

LULAN ship Ancestors 1848
I am doing some historical research into emigration from the Uists in the Western Isles of Scotland to Nova Scotia in the early 1800s. I would be grateful for any information on these families who purportedly sailed from South Uist, many of them dying from smallpox on route or after arrival.
The names are not typically Uist in origin, which intrigues me, and some of them were- Lowther, Carmichael, Maxwell, Neilson, Grant, Ferguson, Black and Samson. I know the ship took a detour to Glasgow first so I assume these passengers were picked up there. I'll not elaborate on the purpose of the research but any info on these families would be much appreciated.
If I get any returns on these, I have another batch of names I will post later. Feel free to contact

CRASWELL
Just found this Obit and thought I would share it.
Craswell, William Lawrence
CRASWELL, WILLIAM LAWRENCE Our cherished dad, William Lawrence Craswell, left this earth June 2, 2004, to be with his beloved Rose, his wife of 61 years. Bill was born November 2, 1920, in Gresham, Oregon, to Rosa M. and Lawrence E. Craswell. He attended Gresham High School, where he met and began dating Rose Ceciliani. He starred on the basketball and baseball teams and continued to pitch semi-pro baseball for several years, while working at the family business, Portland Sand and Gravel. Bill enlisted in the U.S. Army and he and Rose were married on August 22, 1942. He served as a tank commander in the 14th Armored Division, fighting with Patton's troops in North Africa, France, and Germany. He was awarded the Bronze Star for Bravery. Upon returning from the war, Bill resumed driving for Portland Sand and Gravel, until his retirement. Bill's life revolved around his family. He was deeply devoted to his wife, his mother, and his two sons and their families, and he will be dearly missed. We take great comfort in knowing that he and Mom are now back together. Bill is survived by his sons, William B. and Robert A. Craswell, their wives, and his five grandchildren. He was looking forward to the birth of his first great-grandchild. A funeral service and interment will be held 2:00 p.m., Monday, June 7, 2004, at Lincoln Memorial Park & Funeral Home, 11801 S.E. Mt. Scott Blvd., Portland, 503-771-1117. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Hopewell House or Mt. Hood Hospice.

I have a lot of information but need more on Neil McCallums second wife. I believe they were married in dec of 1883. My grandmother always spoke of her half sisters or step sisters Bessie and Lena who moved to Mass. Mary lived in Minneapolis MN and was the mother of Kenneth McCallum and Katherine Shirley McCallum (my mother) and married to my father Andrew Poshek. They visited PEI many times, sometimes with Percy and Gladys Johnstone to see the Diamond family and others. I would love to visit with anyone who might know of them. I believe the second wife was Elizabeth Peardon who was maybe married to John Peardon and widowed. Thank you. Katherine Emily Poshek, Tessman, Bates. 208-392-9784./

Her parents were John Cormier and it looks like her mother's name was St. Celia (but the death certificate is hand written and it's difficult to read). Isabella GRAHAM had a son named Malcolm Donald. Malcolm Donald was born on April 28, 1896 in the Murray River area of PEI. He was given to the Malcolm BLUE family by his mother as an infant, and lived with the BLUE family (identified in the 1901 census with Malcolm BLUE and the 1911 census with Duncan BLUE). Malcolm Donald immigrated to the USA on July 28, 1922, and used the last name BLUE. In the immigration paper, he listed Uncle Duncan Blue as his nearest relative, and John Gillis as the person whose residence where he lived at 26 Elmwood St in Little Sands, PEI.
Isabella, Malcolm Donald's mother, was a daughter of John B. Graham and Phoebe Hicken. She married to Malcolm Gillis of Montague, PEI after Malcolm Donald was born. Malcolm Donald also had a brother named Leith, who was born August 28, 1885, and a half sister, named Phoebe.
I know there are still many GRAHAM descendants on PEI, and I am hoping someone can shed some light as to who was the father of Malcolm Donald.

GREEN
The baptismal Records of PEI until 1888 list 8 children for Thomas GREEN and Caroline (surname not given, but this would be Caroline Francis DAVIS according to our family "story") born between 16 Oct 1842 (Amelia Jane GREEN) and 3 April 1860 (Charles Sutcliffe GREEN). Then Thomas GREEN is listed with wife Anne Eliza (no surname given and this 2nd marriage was unknown--we seek her maiden name, birth and death dates) for these 4 children (all of whom were listed on the recently discovered family bible page):
Thomas P. GREEN born 12 July 1863
Matilda Blanche GREEN born 9 October 1864
Alfred George Hodgson GREEN born 9 October 1865
Alice Abigail GREEN 15 August 1868
plus 2 more NOT on the family bible page, but possibly born to the same couple:
Annie Edith GREEN born 2 Nov 1870 to Thomas GREEN and Anne Eliza
Edward Albert Osbourne GREEN born 7 March 1878 to Thomas GREEN and Annie Eliza.
Is there any way to determine/confirm the maiden names of Caroline and Anne Eliza--are there marriage indexes someone could help search? or Cemetery records? It would seem likely that Caroline would be married and buried by a Trinity Methodist minister as all her children were baptized there and that Anne Eliza would have wed (and been buried?) by St. Peter's Anglican (this minister would have been George Wright Hodgson) as this is where her children were baptized.
Thanks much for all help received!

Thomas Williams/Mary Good
Were married and lived Charlottetown, PEI, around 1840 onwards to about 1857.
They had several children, Robert Owen, John Robert and Harriett or Mary. Around 1857 they sailed to New Zealand.
I believe that Thomas Williams was involved with building/owning ships in this period.
I believe also that Mary Good also used the name of Harriet (certainly in New Zealand)
Mary/Harriet was born in PEI around 1820.
Wondering if anyone else is looking at the Good family.
Any info welcome

CORBETT - LOT 21
Hi. I am interested in contacting any descendants of the CORBETTS who settled in South Granville, Lot 21. They all came from the parish of Eddrachillis in Sutherlandshire, Scotland and my wife is a New Zealand-born descendant of a sister who remained in Scotland. Perhaps the McKenzies, Gunns and McLeods also living in Granville in 1871 were from this remote part of the Scottish Highlands as well? The Island Register is a great site! FITZPATRICK
First off, great site you have put together here!
I am hoping someone reading your site may be researching the same family and be able to help me add on to my family as I have hit a brick wall.
I am looking for any siblings and parents for a John Fitzpatrick born possibly between 1824 and 1827 on Prince Edward Island. Family information initially placed his birth in Ireland, but according to the Census of 1881 (Westmoreland County, NB)he was born in PEI. According to information I received from a great-granddaughter of John, he married a Mary Ann Butler (b. 4 Aug 1833 NB) on Prince Edward Island sometime around 1850 or 1851 as the first child we can find reference to, Thomas, was born 19 Dec 1852 in New Brunswick. John and Mary had 11, possibly 12 children, in total. They were all born or raised in Westmoreland County, New Brunswick. The information is very limited on what we know pertaining to John, Mary Ann and family, because the family story goes that John, a devout Catholic, disowned his second son Michael (my great-great grandfather) when John learned Michael was a Methodist.
If anyone has any information about this family, or could push me in the right direction to go to find information about John and his family, it would be greatly appreciated. I am more then happy to share what information I do have on John Fitzpatrick's and Mary Ann Butler's descendants.
I can be emailed at arewerelated2007@yahoo.com

I am seeking information on the family of the Rev. William James Campbell, b. in Carleton 9-28-1876 or 1877, died in Bar Harbor, ME on March 2, 1949. I have a substantial amount of information on Rev. Campbell and his career, but not on his family. His parents were Donald E. Campbell and Mary Ann McPherson Campbell. The family lived in Summerside and he had a sister who married Winsloe Johnston Lidstone (1876-1946), a merchant and, in the early 1940's, mayor of Summerside. I believe Donald Campbell was a farmer and died before 1903. I would appreciate any information on William Campbell's parents, his sister, her husband, or other relatives. Some letters between W.J.Lidstone and William J. Campbell are available in the Vanderbilt University archives, where Dr. Campbell was a professor in the Divinity School from 1929 until 1947 or 1948. From those letters I gather that the Lidstones had a son, Donald, and a daughter, Evelyn.

There seems to be very little information about my ancestors because so many of them perished during the great Deportation, but I'm looking for whatever anyone may have. I'm also trying to find a copy of Stephen White's book - I know that it's out of print, but it doesn't hurt to ask :)
