The Will of John Taylor (-1841, Granville)


Last Will and Testament of John Taylor of Granville, Lot 21.

Provincial Court of Prince Edward Island Liber 4, Folio 71

This is the last Will and Testament of me John Taylor of the Parish of Granville Prince Edward Island Yeoman - First I give and bequest unto my son John the sum of Ten Shillings of lawful money current in Prince Edward Island aforesaid also I give and bequeath unto my daughter Elizabeth the wife of John Ash the sum of Ten Shillings of like lawful money. Also I give and bequeth unto my daughter Grace the wife of James Banks the sum of Ten Shillings of like lawful money. Also I give and bequeath unto my son William the sum of Ten Shillings of like lawful money also I give and bequeath unto my daughter Rebecca the wife of William Piper (now residing in Canada) the sum of Ten Shillings of like lawful money also I give and bequeath unto my daughter Mary the sum of Ten Shillings of like lawful money also I give and bequeath unto my daughter Charlotte the sum of Ten Shillings of like lawful money also I give and bequeath unto my daughter Eliza the sum of Ten Shillings of like Lawful money also I give and bequeath to my son James the sum of Ten Shillings of like lawful money also I give and bequeath to my son George the sum of Ten Shillings of like lawful money all which said several pecuniary legacies I direct to be paid by my Executrix hereafter named within twelve calendar months next after my decease. And as to all the rest residue and remainder of my goods and chattels personal and Testamentary Estate and Effects whatsoever and wheresoever and of what nature soever I give and bequeath the same and every part there of subject nevertheless to the payment of my just debts Funeral expenses and the before mentioned legacies unto my dear wife Rebecca Taylor (but subject to the maintenance supplement and bringing up of such and so many of my children as shall be incapable of maintaining and supporting themselves) but my will and mind is that if my said wife shall happen to get married then I give and bequeath all residue of my goods and chattels Testamentary Estate and Effects whatsoever (set out as aforesaid) unto John Morris and William Pipe both of the Parish of Granville aforesaid Yeoman your trust nevertheless and for the sole benefit of my two sons Richard and David the same to transferred by my said Trustee to them respectively when any said son Richard shall have attained the of eighteen years and I hereby direct my said Trustees to pay out of my personal estate unto my said wife the sum of Twenty Pounds and to be paid her in five equal yearly payments the first payment thereof to be made within twelve months next after such her marriage and my will and mind further is that in case my said two sons James and George shall remain on and work and improve the farm on which I am now residing until they shall attain their respective ages of twenty then I give and bequeath to each of them the sum of Ten pounds of lawful money aforesaid to be paid to them by my said wife or my said Trustees as the case may happen to be within six months after they shall have attained that age and I hereby nominate my said wife Rebecca Taylor sole Executrix of this my will and I hereby make and void all former wills by me made and do declare this only to be my last Will and Testament. In witness whereof the said John Taylor the Testor have to this my last will and Testament set my hand and seal this sixteenth day of December in the year of our Lord One thousand Eight hundred and thirty nine
