Will of Alex'r MacKenzie of Lot 63, Prince Edward Island


Last Will and Testament of Alexander MacKenzie, Lot 63, Kings County.

In the name of God Amen. I Alexander MacKenzie of Lot sixty three (63) in Kings County in Prince Edward Island being weak in body but of sound mind and memory and understanding considering the certainty of Death and the uncertainty of the time thereof Do make and publish this my last will and testament hereby revoking and making void all former wills by me at any time heretofore made. I dispose of such worldly Estate wherewithin it hath pleased God to entrust me as follows,

I give devise and bequeath to my son Lauchlin MacKenzie fifty acres of Land bounded on the south by Lands now in the pofsefsion of James Graham, To the front on the Gulf of St. Lawrence five chains from south to north, and the side lines to run parrellel with the side lines of the farm I now occupy, reserving to myself and succefsors the free use of such roads of communication as may be necefsary or required through the said Fifty acres, and under this proviso, that my said son Lauchlin pay annually to my son Alexander MacKenzie the sum of fourteen shillings & seven pence currency, and to erect and keep in repair his fair proportion of a line fence between himself and his brother Donald.

I give devise and bequeath to my son Donald MacKenzie Fifty acres of land adjoining that and to the north of the Fifty acres I have bequeathed to my son Lauchlin, to have five chains front on the Gulf shore and side lines to run parallel with the side lines of the farm I now occupy and under the same reservation and proviso as the fifty acres bequeathed to Lauchlin and that he is further required to erect and keep in repair his fair share of the line fence between himself and his mother & sisters.

I give and bequeath to my son Alexander MacKenzie all my leasehold interest to and into Fifty acres of land on Lot of Township Number sixty one (61) and fronting on St. Marys Bay with this proviso that my sons Donald, Lauchlin, and Angus have free liberty to cut as much firewood thereon as will be sufficient for the consumption of their own families for Twenty years and be at liberty to haul the same of the said premifses without any interruption from my son Alexander aforesaid or his afsigns.

I give devise and bequeath to my dear wife Sally MacKenzie and to my Daughters Mary MacKenzie and Catherine MacKenzie Fifty acres of land with five chains front on the Gulf shore, bounded on the south by fifty acres I have bequeathed to my son Donald and the side lines to run parrell with that bequeathed to my sons Donald 7 Lauchlin reserving to my self and heirs a right of way through the said Fifty acres.

I give devise and bequeath to my son Angus MacKenzie the Fifty acres on the North side of my farm with all the building thereon together with the stock and household furniture under the proviso that he stops at home and takes care of his mother and sisters during their natural life time or till his sisters are married, reserving to my beloved wife aforesaid the free use of the House and Household furniture during her natural life time and also that my said son Angus is to pay annually to his brother Alexr Fourteen shillings & 7p currency.

I do also will direct and desire that my sons Lauchlin and Donald will have the joint use of the barn till they are able to erect one themselves and also the use of the horses in spring and fall when they can be spared till they get a team of their own, and I do hereby nominate and appoint my son Donald MacKenzie and Edward Thornton to be my Executors of this my last will and testament consisting of three pages and five lines contained on one sheet of paper. In witnefs whereof I the said Alexander MacKenzie the Testator have hereunto set my hand and seal Lot (63) Twentieth April 1834
