Note: my g.g.grandfather....father of Margaret Morrow/Murray, wife of Duncan Mc/MacPhee, of Riverdale, PEI. We have discovered that Morrow and Murray is used interchangeably with this family.....depending on how minister, lawyer, census taker, etc. spelled it...jld.

    In the matter of the Administration of the Estate of
    Angus Murray late of Lot or Township No. Thirty
    One, farmer, deceased.

A last and true inventory of the Real Estate, Goods, Chattels, and Credits which were of the said Angus Murray, deceased, at the time of his death, and which have come to the knowledge or hands of Isabella Murray, Widow, the administratrix of the Estate of the said Angus Murray to be administrated.

Real Estate consisting of

Fifty Acres of Land on Township No. Thirty One with dwelling house, barn, estimated at 120 pounds

Leasehold interest consisting of

Lease of Forty Acres on Township No. Thirty One for the term 999 years at the rent of one shilling per acre estimated at 30 pounds

Isabella Murray Widow and Administratrix of the Estate and affects of Angus Murray, deceased Intestate, maketh oath and saith that the Inventory of the Real Estate, Goods, Chattels and Credits of the said deceased as above, and on the preceding page written, is correct and true to the best of this deponent’s knowledge and belief.

Sworn at Chambers in Charlottetown the 4th day of March A.D. 1859 being first read & explained to the deponent.

#27- Petition of Widow for Administration of Estate of late Angus Morrow

Lot 31 - dated July 24, 1858

 

To the Honourable Charles Young, LLD Surrogate and Judge of the Probate of Wills, and for granting Administration to the Estates of Persons dying Intestate within Prince Edward Island.

The Petition of Isabella Morrow, Widow of Angus Morrow, late of Township No. Thirty One, farmer, deceased, humbly sheweth,

That Petitioner is the Widow of the late Angus Morrow of Township No. Thirty One, who departed this life some time on or about the third day April last, without making any will, and leaving Petitioner with six sons and three daughters of the respective names and ages following; namely Archibald, aged Twenty Years; John aged Seventeen Years; Benjamin aged Thirteen Years; Donald aged Nine Years; Angus, aged Six Years; Alexander Colin, aged Two Years, Ann aged Twenty three Years; Margaret aged Fifteen Years; Flora Jane aged Six Years, that at the time of the death of her said Husband he was possessed of, in fee simple, of Fifty Acres of land on Township Thirty-One, on which he had built his house, and outbuildings; that he was also possessed of two separate leaseholds one of Forty-Seven Acres on the same Township for 999 years at the yearly rent of One Shilling Sterling per acre, the other of Eighty-Seven Acres on Township No. Thirty for 999 years at the yearly rent of ............... that the fee simple property is estimated at the value of Two Hundred Pounds or thereabouts, and the two Leaseholds at the sum of Seventy Pounds Currency or thereabouts, and that the farm stock with the implements of husbandry are valued at the sum of Seventy-One Pounds or thereabouts, the whole of the real and personal estate in the aggregate, making the sum of Three Hundred and Forty-One Pounds Currency.

That under these circumstances, your Petitioner prays that Your Honour will be pleased to grant letter of Administration to her as the Widow of the said deceased agreeably to the directives of the law in the like cases made & provided. And as in duty ......?? Petitioner will ever pray.

Sworn at Charlottetown the 24th day of July A.D. 1858 being first read and explained to the deponent who seemed to understand the same before me.
