WILL OF MATTHIAS HAWKINS OF MURRAY RIVER

In the Name of God Amen

I Matthias Hawkins of Murray River in Kings County Prince Edward Island Farmer being in a State of great infirmity of body but of perfect mind and memory thanks be given unto God calling unto mind the mortality of my body and knowing it is appointed for all men once to die, do make and ordain this my last will and Testament that is to say principally and first of all I give and recommend my Soul into the hands of Almighty God that gave it and my body I recommend to the Earth to be buried in decent Christian burial at the discretion of my Executrix nothing doubting but at the general Resurrection I shall receive the same again by the mighty power of God and as touching such worldly Estate wherewith it hath pleased God to bless me in this life: I give demise and dispose of the same in the following manner and form I give and bequeath unto my Well Beloved Wife Ann my Farm containing /70/ seventy acres of free land with all buildings stock farming utensils etc. thereunto belonging likewise the cart Road willed to me by my Father extending from the East line of my Farm along the bank to the landing place at the little Brook to be held by her for her maintenance to be made over by her at her death to my Son William. He to work the Farm and carry on the business thereunto pertaining as he does at present. and further I bequeath unto each of my other children the sum of four Pounds in Stock or anything off the Farm.

And I hereby utterly disavow revoke and discount all former Testaments Wills Legacies Bequests and Executors by me in any wise before made willed and bequeathed ratifying and confirming this and no other to be my last will and Testament and my said wife my Executrix.

In Witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand and seal this eighteenth day of June in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and sixty four.

Signed sealed and delivered by the said Matthias Hawkins as his last will and Testament in his presence and in the presence of each other who have hereunto subscribed our names.
