The British Soldier

In the name of God, Amen. I Richard Price, Farmer in Bedeque Prince Edward Island North America, being sick and weak in body but of perfect mind and memory thanks be given to God, calling into mind the mortality of my body and knowing that it is appointed unto all men once to die do make and ordain this my last Will and testament, that is to say, principally and first of all I give and commend my soul into the hand of Almighty God that gave it and my body I recommend to the Earth to be buried in a decent Christian burial at the discretion of my Executors nothing doubting at the general resurrection I shall receive the same again by the mighty power of God and as touching such worldly estate wherewith it has pleased God to bless me in this life I give devise and dispose of the same in the following manner and form, viz. I give and bequeath to Annastasia my dearly beloved wife all my lands purchased and leased all my stock of Horses, Cows, Oxen, Sheep, Hoggs, & all my Houses of whatever description to her and to be hers during the whole time of her natural life. And at her Death the whole of the above recited property to belong to my son George after the following legacies are paid. To Catherine my daughter I bequeath five Shillings, to my son William I bequeath five Shillings, to Mathias five Shillings, to Michael five Shillings, to Richard five Shillings, to James five Shillings, to Bridget five Shillings, to Mary five Shillings, to Johanna my daughter I bequeath two pounds and to have one of the up Stair rooms as long as she remains single, and should she marry then to have two Cows and nine Sheep, I bequeath to my daughter Ann the sum of five Shillings.

I hereby constitute make and ordain my two Sons George Price and Richard Price as Executors to this my last Will and testament and to fulfill everything specified in this my last will and testament. And I do hereby utterly disallow revoke and disannul all and every other former testaments wills legacies bequests and Executors by me in any way before named willed and bequeathed ratifying and confirming this and no other to be my last will and testament. In witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand and seal in the presence of the above named Witnesses this twentieth day of April one thousand Eight hundred and forty.

Conditions before signing the threshing Machine to be for the use of Richard Price Jnr. and James Price as long as they live convenient to the premises and help to keep the Same in repair.
